Thanks forummers for BRILLIANT info on Nth Ireland!!
      #464456 - 14/09/2009 09:55

Wow! Thanks to everyone for recommendations. 48 hours was a whistle stop, but managed the Antrim coast road to Giants Causeway, amazing. the Carrick-a-rede rope bridge, wobbly, Dunluce castle at sunset, & Glenariffe.Smugglers Inn hotel near the causeway was pleasant and inepxensive.
In Belfast we took the open top bus tour which has whetted our appetites. Pub wise managed the Crown in Gt Victoria St; the John Hewitt and Kellys Cellars.
Great inexpensive hotel the Malone about 15 mins walk from the city.
The weather was lovely and we will definitely be back.
If anyone is thinking of a short break, do it! Car hire was bearable cos the flights were so cheap
Thanks again.

Glad you had a good time and you certainly picked the right weekend for good weather. Dunluce Castle at sun-set is unbelievable - I'm sure you got some lovely pictures. Carrick-a-rede used to only be wood planks with a piece of rope either side to hold onto and it really wobbled. Did it once, never again until the new bridge was put up. Hope some others will read your post and decide to visit.

Hi rjaly !!! I'm a new member as of tonight and loved hearing all about your lovely time in Northern Ireland - such a fab place!!

My Mum lives in Ballycastle just near the Giants Causeway and Carrick-a-rede Rope Bridge arrrrrgggh ( did it once - never again!!) She had to go into a Nursing Home a year ago so I now rent her house out, If you want to know any more details give me a shout!! I'm going back over next Sunday - try to vist at least every 7/8 weeks - very tiring - will probably post on this at a later date..........

Glad that N Ireland has been seen in a lovely positive light.

Bye for now

Trish xx
