Ideas please ?
      #442608 - 16/08/2009 13:28

Have just been invited to a "Posh" do ... not me at all ... am looking for something not over the top but stylish for the larger lady .. bigger on the top shall we say so dresses are a no really as tend to swamp the bottom half
love long and floaty skirts any shop ideas could look at around the Midlands somewhere a bit different that caters for the larger lady not yet ready to be middle aged and frumpy ? the party is a 60th in very posh hotel meal and band etc so want to be able to look good and be able to dance around a bit !!

How about Monsoon or Wallis? Both have websites you could look at. I would also make sure I was wearing a nice necklace or bracelet, if there is a meal you will be sitting down for some time and your top half will be most on display.

It sounds a lovely occasion.

Hello

East are very good and not over the top and too formal - things you can wear again

La redoute - their Tallisane range is also very nice and not too expensive - I buy on line.

I also buy 'vintage' of the 30's and 40's via the internet and get some beautiful peices which I also know no one will be able to copy... the quality is always much better than what you get now.... and even the bags and accessories are lovely. Have a peep at:

Gre,

For something really swish, Marina Rialdi do big girl's clothes, I know, because I treated myself, ONCE!

Take a look at her website, also Anna Scholz, is another designer that caters for the likes of us gre,who are slightly bigger ha ha, for special occasions, have a peek.

Gre,
Have you had a look at Bravissimo? They only do a limited range but have a few quite classic dresses that fit over the boobs and don't swamp the rest of you.

Hi
There's a lovely and very individual shop called Sahara (I found in Cirencester, but I think there may be shops in London) They have lots of separates, I'm pretty sure they do mail order but their range is soft and feminine but still incredible versatile and usually beautifully made. The website is www.saharalondon.com

I mentioned in another post that I went to Planet for the first time the other day. I am a large busted lady and struggle to find dresses but everything I tried on in Planet fitted (mostly in smaller sizes than I would normally wear) and looked really nice. Would highly recommend Planet.
