Eating out in London......help!
      #436439 - 07/08/2009 17:41

I am coming down to London wth my three daughters (22, 17, 16) to see Dirty Dancing on the 14th August. We will probably eat near the Theatre that night but on the Saturday I am looking for somewhere reasonable that he girls will like near the Millenium Gloucester where we are staying. Any ideas? Don't want to have to get too dressed up as we are travelling light (well I am!)

Hi hussy (love the name!!)

Check out www.toptable.com - you can do a search for Kensington and see what's around, read reviews and even get fab discounts!!

Enjoy the show...it is FAB!!!

Hi Hussy,
I'd be inclined to head to the Kings Road in Chelsea which is a short bus or cab ride away. Sloane square underground is only a couple of stops. If going earlier in the day than dinner the girls could also get some shopping in. In any case, suggest you go on toptable.com and enter kensington in the area search. You will find lots of restaurants there with customer reviews as well so you can choose something to your taste. Enjoy!
Gill

Thanks both of you, that is a good idea about the website - we can all have a look before we go, and also about the Kings Road - for us up here these are just names from our favourite chick lit! I am sure the girls will love it. Fluffington, Sella_ Vee called me a hussy on a thread ages ago and I loved it, up till then I was just my name and a number with a corny wee Scottish dancer next to it. Given me a new lease of life!

I'm sure when you get there you will see lots of nice restaurants around the hotel. It always amazes me just how many there are in London. As for dressing up, it really doesn't apply nowadays

Not sure whats near your hotel but can recommend a couple of places in the West End to eat. My 2 daughters and I went down to London in October to see Hairspray and we ate at Hamburger Union (classy! their choice not mine - it was good though).

More recently have been to London and ate at Brown's in St Martin's Lane which is right in the heart of theatreland. Reasonably priced and felt like a real treat. Didn't need to book.

You'll have a brilliant time!

Thank you susieblue and cooljule, I will check out your suggestions. And am glad to hear my casual dress will be ok most places.

Dirty Dancing is a fabulous show, I hope you enjoy it. You will be a stone's throw from Covent Garden and there are lots of eating places around there and it's a great place to wander round. Even if you choose not to eat there, there are loads of cafes and bars for a drink. Have a wonderful time.
