Hi Ladies,
Just recovering from yesterday's really enjoyable trip to London, and thought to myself, how age really catches up with you. Years ago I could have done that trip, and then just as some of the other ladies did, got home and went out on the town, but these days, I seem to get so shattered ha ha.
I can remember a time going upto Oxford Street, and literally walking miles, amidst all the shoppers, and crowds. Loved it, and never felt weary, different story now, couldnt think of anything I would least like to do nowadays.
Could also go out partying, get back in the early hours, and be up and wide awake and ready for work the next day. Pace is too hectic for me these days. I think the saying is the mind is willing, its the body "that aint"!!!!
Just wondered what signs of age have you all noticed, you know what I mean, what takes you far longer do do? that years ago wouldnt have taken any time whatsoever.
Please dont tell me that its just me, but it does make you think, doesnt it? you never ever think you are getting older, it just catches up with you, we all think we are exactly as we were when we were younger, but sadly, we are not.

Hi Plasmo
No not just you, me too.
I remember my Mum saying I wouldn't be able to do all Io did as I got older. I laughed and didn't believe her. She was right of course, I get exhausted now.......!!!!

Afternoon Plasmo
I sympathise. I used to be able to clean my whole house and wash the net curtains all in a day, can't now. Its windows one day, and now I do upstairs one day and down another. i even have help now as I am so shattered from working all week. Even in the evenings after work, I am too tired to anything whereas I would think nothing of Ironing, cleaning etc, not now, and I thought it was just me.

Can't do cartwheels any more, the wriists won't take it and it makes me fell giddy! It is the phyisical things that get to me. I'm definatly not as strong as I used to be, but my husband still thinks I can lift my own body weight above my head when he needs a hand with things!
Oh and when you do surveys and they need a box ticked for age group, I seem to be in the last one now.

Hi everyone I've just this minute posted on something else and said how tired I get travelling these days. We travel on motorways quite a lot and it really takes it out of me. Also if I sit down when I come home from work I'm dozing in the chair in no time. I could make a list but I won't bother - bury my head in the sand time I think.
The thing is I don't feel old! I don't expect any of us do except when we fill in the forms as Luckylegs said and we are in the last box!

I am so glad I've just read this thread! This morning I have redone 3 of my garden pots, dug up and replanted 2 hostas and mowed the lawn front and back and we have quite a sizeable garden!
I've changed the sheets and down 2 lots of washing, all in and folded now. Hoover throughout and washed the kitchen floor. Just finished watering all my pots and I've topped up the birdbath!
Now feel shattered and wondered if I was being lazy by coming on here instead of doing the ironing!
I'm obviously not lazy...I'm just old!!!!

Cuppy,
We tend to think we can do all the things we did with great zest and energy, that we did years ago, our bodies, have their own way in telling us a different story ha ha.

Plasmo............I am with you on this one. After yesterday and my trip out to a Castle in the week I woke up today and my knees were screaming at me (I have a crumbling kneecap). Also feel absolutely exhausted after yesterday and I am ashamed to say I have sat in the armchair all day and not done a thing except go through some magazines I bought a few weeks ago and not read yet.
AND...................
I am still in my nightdress and dressing gown!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lazy or what!!!
Old age hasn't caught up with me..................IT HAS OVERTAKEN ME WITHOUT ME REALISING IT.
Oh dear................. where did the young years go!!

Hi Thimble,
You and me alike, even visiting the loo in the theatre, and going back upstairs to the restaurant, felt like I had run a mile, methinks really need to lose weight, and not enjoy all the good things in life, perhaps not as often as I do ha ha.

It was visiting the loo in the restaurant that hurt my knees the most!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tried to talk to Norfolkbroad when I got back to the top to tell her where they were..................but..........
resorted to pointing downwards and hoped she understood!!!!!
Have been told by consultant not to do inclines or too many stairs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bit difficult when you are already out and your old bladder says HELP I NEED TO EMPTY!!!!!!
So just do it and suffer the next day but with icepacks and rest it soon eases.................. losing about 21 lbs would help a lot but boy is it hard............

Didnt think I ever felt that old, but having spent a week with my 2 GDs, I am totally knackered and not as young and fit as I used to be! Not used to crawling around on my knees, dancing, jumping up and down, picking them up, swinging them around and above my head (only the baby for that one), running around.......believe it or not
I was told by a shopkeeper that I didnt look old enough to be a grandma after she heard me calling GD - she was shocked! That made me laugh - if only she knew how I felt!!
But have found a cure for not being able to sleep..........play with 2 young children every day - works wonders

It's not just getting older that has slowed me down the weight that I have put on with the passing of time hasn't helped either But getting older is certainly no fun - I certainly can't do the amount of things that I used to be able to do I seem to tire so easily - not that I ever could do the cartwheels that some of you mentioned
