3 Tier Electric Steamer
      #419925 - 10/07/2009 08:20

I have just bought an electric steamer. Last night I cooked rice with salmon, broadbeans and carrots and it was very good. Very healthy!!

What else cooks well in one of these steamers??

Chicken cooks well, lovely and moist but very pale. I always do a sauce with it so not as healthy.

Any veg does well. Tatties in the bottom rest of veg on top.

Let me know how you get on as I have a stove top steamer and could do with inspiration.

I bought one of these (electric) on recommendation. Only used it a couple of times, then lost the instructions, so haven't used it again!

Also problem with the electric one is that you put it in back of cupboard and forget about it. Think I might treat myself to a stove top version and get back into it.

I have been considering buying one of these electric ones. At the moment I just use a universal steamer on top of saucepan for veg. Always cook the potatoes in the water underneath, never thought of steaming them.

Thimble
I use my stove top 3 tier steamer quite a lot but cook potatoes in water underneath the rest of the veg. Saves on gas and is healthier. I also do chicken/ fish with the veg.

Anyone do actual recipes in theirs, would love to know how you get on.

Thanks suziedee................. that sounds quite a good idea. Bit loathe to have anything else electric.............this cost of the bills is getting far too high!!!

I've got one but rarely use it now. Getting out it out, washing it up after and putting it away - such a pain

Saw an electic one in Aldi this morning and was tempted to get it but I resisted. Just as well, judging from everyone's comments.

Sounds like one of those things that sounds good in theory but not in practise.

Thanks, ladies!
