I've used Magic Knickers in the past but to be honest I spent the whole time stressing about them rolling down - which they all do - and felt constricted and uncomfortable. I would recommend if you can get it an all in one which is like a slip but has support. Alternatively...and this does work, don't eat any bread or pasta, biscuits chocolate etc drink plenty of water and do some exercise (even fast walking)anything to build up a sweat - if you do all this for even 3 days before your event you'll feel fab, I promise. I did this recently before a party and didn't loose a lot but lost the bloated feeling. Good Luck.x

I had this dilemma last week, so went to M&S and tried every pair of magic knickers on the shelves. The assistant said I had to go for the next size up from my normal size which went down like a lead balloon with me. She was right though as I couldn't get my normal size beyond my knees! In the end, out of desperation I got a pair that were the most comfy. They don't do anything dramatic but I think help a bit. I couldn't go for the long line ones that are supposed to come to under the bust. They rolled down whilst I was trying them on. I took the dress I needed the help with and all I could see was a large roll in a very silly place. My DIL got a pair of long line ones from M&S and they work wonders for her.

I hate magic knickers! The one time I wore them I kept imagining tripping over and everyone seeing how awful they looked. And the above the waist ones roll down. If anything, I like the ones that have a lot of lace on andfit like ordinary knickers...I find they are best at holding you in.
Fizzy, I'm sure you don't need them as much as me though!

I agree with the girls, the above the waist ones do roll down and going to the loo is a pain. I would like Lornaw said go for an all in one I think they are more comfortable and you are not worried about it rolling down all the time have a great time love miababyxx

I agree, they roll down !I find that the 'all in one' pull you ins flatten your boobs and so make the tummy look like a big barrell, so dont like them either.
I would suggest practising standing correctly , stomach in AND buying a really good, well fitting bra....and choosing the correct clothes to go over the top.

No way! I remember roll-ons and pantie girdles, so uncomfortable - never again. I stopped wearing them in the long hot summer of 76 and never looked back.
GOK has a lot to answer for, I'd rather camouflage my wobbly bits.

Hi, Forget the knickers!! Well, actually wearsome of course, but when my son got married I wanted to look svelte in my expensive outfit so what I did was wear a pair of M&S tights from their 'Body Shaper' range. They do matt versions, sheer versions etc. The ones that I used were sheer so that they look like bare legs and don't have that thick bit over the toes so that my open-toe sexy high heels still looked good. They also supported my legs so that my feet didn't swell on what was a very long but brilliant day. I have never felt so good about myself as I did that day and it must have showed because when my Mum (who NEVER compliments me) saw the photos she said that I looked lovely. Result!!

I hate the knickers and would rather starve than wear them. One time I had a body wrap for a 'do' not sure if it worked. However last week I went with my daughter to M&S for some for her as she had bought a satin dress for a 'do'. She took 7 different types in to try, including the dress/slip type. None of them did the job (she took the dress with her) and she ended up with a pair of very sheer nude knickers which were perfect. However, she was too hot to try on the dress but I did and it was brilliant !! I nearly bought it, but you do run the risk of being very HOT!! in it. Be comfortable and enjoy the 'do'

I absolutely agree, magic knickers and M&S ones are useless,if they don't roll down, they just push up the wodge of flesh, not a pretty sight! I have found an all-in-one bra slip type with a holding band at the bottom from J.D.Williams,that does the trick.Failing that, the support tights are a good idea, providing that they are not so tight that they also roll down or push up the flesh. Incidentally,am I the only one to wonder how others manage with the pantie corselette? The whole point of need ing one,(for me anyway),is my large tum.I can't see over it to do up the crotch ! Joanna Lumley's "Absolutely Fabulous" springs to mind ! Anyway,do your best on the day and then forget about it and enjoy yourself.

M & S are good but yes you do have to buy them one size bigger.
I went on a cruise a few years ago - my very first. I needed a couple of long evening dresses for the Captain's Dinner ! ! ! Desperately needed something to keep everything tucked in and bought a very expensive pair of nickers in Debenhams. Wore them for half an hour. Did the trick though. Back in the bag now until I go to another Captain's Dinner, which is most unlikely.
