Bad hair day!
      #418002 - 07/07/2009 11:43

I'm going to my first supper club tonight so I washed my baby fine hair with volumising shampoo, then Aveda conditioner to give volume, left it for about 10 mins then washed it out, added gel, dried hair, put heated rollers in (gave postman a shock) and it looked great! For about five minutes. Now it's back to straight again. Grrrrrrrrrr

Could wear a brown paper bag...........!!

I have the opposite, spend ages trying to get the straighter look, then it turns into waves and curls and has got worse the older I get, the hotter or wetter it is, the worse it gets, we are never happy !!!!

Its suprising how much the state of our hair can affect our confidence isn't it.

I've got the heated rollers warming up as I type. I shall go for the tousled look I think.
(the only good thing about my hair is there's NO GREY)

MrsSmith - I have snap hair with you and I used to use Aveda shampoo and conditioner. I have now switched to Philip Kingsley and I have really noticed a difference.

You can buy it in John Lewis or on line. They sell small bottles, so you can try it out without having to buy a large bottle.

Hi girls

I have fine hair as well and it is a nightmare to style. As soon as I step out of the door it starts to flick out and you would think that I have not brushed my hair let alone styled it.

I bought the Aveda shampoos and conditioner last month - so far I am not impressed with them although I am persevering. I quite fancy trying the Philip Kingsley range - I do have his mousse unfortunately though, it does not suit my hair.

I know this sounds a bit odd - my hair styles and holds better when I do not put any hair styling products through it.

If you find anything that works for fine hair - let me know.

I think the secret is to have a good cut and some highlights. Highlights help to bulk out your hair and the right mix of shades adds depth and an illusion of volume!!!!

I have had to accept that my hair is better a bit shorter than I would like it. I need to have it trimmed regularly, otherwise the ends look tatty and start to flare out.

A different hair prob. All colourants come with instructions on how to prolong colour, but how do you get rid of it? I have just used Nice&Easy non permanent, supposed to be light gold brown,I was hoping for Jenifer Aniston and ended up Penelope Cruz!! Short of washing it at least 24 times, is there a quick way to get rid of the colour?
Even my husband noticed and piped up that I look better when my hair is blonder!

Hi LA09,just got back from the Hairdressers,Nice & Bloody Easy have just ended up costing me a fortune, last night i put on there light ash brown,Well after 20 mins ,my hair looked almost black,my usual colour been very light brown/blonde hi-lites,well i could have cried,it turned out black/brown.
This morning i have had to get an emergency appointment to get it corrected, the hairdresser put some blonde hi-lites back in it,but then when swilling off she left the conditioner on for about 30 minutes and hey presto all that dreadful colour came out.Ithink i have been told before tho that aparantly conditioner if left in for quite a while will strip a home colour out.Good luck ,hope it works ,my mistake has just cost me £85.00 to be put right, including a cut.

Trish xxxx

Dear Trish, thanks!! I will try the conditioner trick this evening and let you know how it turns out.My own hair is like yours, very light brown with blondey lights (in the summer) but sadly going grey' which looks a bit dreary sometimes! I just wanted to be a little bit blonder..I'm right off home colourants now!!Thanks again

A few years ago I used an auburn colour which made my hair come out bright orange - like the colour of Russ Abbot's Scotsman wig (if you remember that) It was horrendous!

On then advice of my sister - and I really don't remember how she found this tip out - I washed it several times in Ariel Rapide. And it worked!

Trish, I tried the conditioner idea but sadly it didn't work on mine, Still that's 4 hairwashes down only 20 to go.I still can't work out how Light Golden Brown dye made my hair dark brown and Trish's Light Ash Brown turned hers nearly black!!

I don't have any Ariel Rapide, only Bold.. still when you're desperate!!

I've used Nice 'n' Easy for years, Light Ash Blonde and have never had a problem. I'd be devasted if it turned out wrong. Did you think of phoning the help line?
As for shampoo etc for fine hair. I was introuduced to "tigi" products about 3 years ago and have seen such an improvement in my fine regularly coloured hair. I recommend their products, which can be bought online (eBay), to everyone. Large bottles of shampoo and conditioner last about a year and the pump dispenser means that you only use what you need.
