Somewhere boutique-ey in the Lake District
      #417347 - 06/07/2009 12:30

I've just booked a fab Scottish whiskey break and I'm looking for a boutique b&b style hotel in the Lake District to round off the holiday. Can anyone recommend something lovely?

Hi LexP

we have stayed at the MillerHowe Hotel in Windermere, fantastic but expensive, we have also spent a few long weekends at the Drunken Duck Inn which is in Ambleside fantastic place with excellent food lovely accommodation both in the inn itself and also courtyard rooms, good luck with them and enjoy the whiskey break

Thanks Macs. Miller Howe looks gorgeous, but you're right, it's not cheap. I'm bookmarking it for a future special occasion. Drunken Duck might be a good idea though! Ta very much

i've been to Miller Howe and it's beautiful, try The Samling or Armathwaite Hall too, fantastic.

Have look at Moresby Hall website, not been but heard locally that they are good. Not in the lakes as such but still in a beautiful part of Cumbria, with the western lakes, the coast and historic Whitehaven all on the doorstep. The Rum story in Whitehaven is worth going to.
