Just wondering what your limit is!!!!!
I don't think I am easily shocked, in fact I think it would be extremely hard to shock me! I'm not in the least prudish and I'm very much live and let live!
What about you? Would you be shocked at, just as an example, someone covered in tattooes and piercings?
Are you narrow minded? Are you disapproving of, again for example, alternative lifestyles?
Just because I'm nosey tell me what shocks or disgusts you..

Don't you mean prudish in your title Cuppy lol
Yes I guess I am a bit prudish at times and over certain things that I feel should be kept private. I don't think I am and I hope am not narrow minded.

I wouldn't describe myself as prudish in my private life and work brings me in contact with a wide range of people and circumstances. None of which really shocks me any more.

Hi Cuppy
I'm not at all prudish or narrow minded and I certainly don't shock easily, but when I worked for social services I was shocked by stuff that was happening not far from me, but that was only initially until I got used to what I potentially could walk into, then nothing shocked me,

Yes, no,no - If that makes sense! Agree with Db some things should be kept private. Cannot bear public soul searching. Gossip is one thing, intimate details are another...

No, but sometimes wish I was. My D's say I am like the mum in "meet the Fockers", the laid back anything goes one. Thing is they dont have much to rebel against so they do it by not getting tattos or piercings I think, and the fact that I talk about anythig doesn't go down to well either, also I am too compassionate, make too many excuses for bad behaviour (we are talking things like child crime here) etc etc, sometimes I wonder who's the grown up.

Child abuse, sex crimes against children disgust me. Shockable - no, don't think so. Choose to keep my private life private, but am no way prudish. Narrow minded - hopefully not!

No I am most certainly not a prude, and not easily shockable, although on reflection perhaps I am, as sometimes I am shocked at some peoples bigotry preconceptions and narrow mindedness.

Un-shockable me. Prudish? No, not in the slightest. I like a gossip and like being nosey, but draw the line at making other peoples business my own. I'm only nosey where I'm invited to be nosey. I'm very easy going and laid back, and unlike wispa, I find blatant sexual inuendo quite funny and in some cases a part of foreplay during nights out.. (only with OH of course). Things that I hate? any form of abuse, bullying, social outcasting to any age sex or race, and people who are over politically correct.

Cuppy I would normally answer no to all your questions. I believe the older you get the less likely you are to be shocked/surprised by anything. Today however I am shocked that soldiers are still being killed in Afghanistan because they lack the right kit to do the job. 30+ years ago I was nursing badly wounded soldiers as a result of bomb blasts in Northern Ireland - it seems nothing changes and I weep for all the families affected by the failure of the government/MOD to provide our forces with the materials to do the job.

Shocked? Well I watched Criomewatch earlier this week and I was certainly shocked at the violent attack on a 92 year old defenceless man in his own bed.

Hi just off to bed when I was checking this post and realised I didn't answer your 2nd question here Cuppy.
Do I shock easily? No and not any more...
I think with inter net and TV these days I and many of us often hear all sorts of news and may be we all get a llttle to used to what is shocking and it doesn't have such a big impact on us as much now. I am shocked don't get me wrong but it doesn't last long and as sadly often something else soon comes along to distract me and thats even worse news. We learn to expect bad and shocking be it a friend having cancer or our soldiers being killed and wounded in wars and like the Iraq conflict.
Like GQ mentions about the old man being attacked and that of the soidiers Barney mentions. It is sad to say but things like this happen each and every day.

I don't think I shock easily at all.
But yes, I am a prude; people talking explicitly about sex makes me uncomfortable - I don't think such things are for the public domain. I even used to hate it when my b/f tried to 'talk dirty'. Yuk.
I try not to be disapproving, other than of things that any reasonable person would disapprove of, such as paedophilia and the abuse of the elderly, and I try hard to work against such things wherever I can.
That said, my boss told me what he is planning to do, and I didn't approve very much. He is gay and he wants to get an egg from an anonymous donor, plant it in a woman in India, and then pay her for the baby, which he will raise with his partner. This is so that the child can have no concept of having a mother.
Please understand me here. I am very proud to be friends with gay singles and couples. I am happy when gay couples adopt a child and give it a loving home. I even have no problem with gay couples using a consenting donor or surrogate, as I have seen this done successfully before with a lesbian couple. The child knows who her daddy is, and is able to have a relationship with him.
But to use an anonymous egg, and a different surrogate, so that the child has no possibility of knowing their biological mother ever? That's where I draw the line. I think a child has a right to the possibility of a relationship with their biological parents. Also, paying women in India to be 'professional surrogates' seems to me to be wide open to abuse.
If that is prudish, then I'm definitely a prude.
