Dbs Deal Of The Month Just £1.04p Have you got one?
      #415752 - 02/07/2009 17:54

My best deal and buy this month was a second hand fully working Toshiba VHS video plus recorder/player which I got off ebay for my great uncle to replace his broken one.

The only down side is that I can not work out how to record to it !
But I am not one to give up this easily so when I go to my great uncle's next week to take him to do his weekly food shop I will spend more time working through all the options until I get it to work. One big and I think important thing is that I think it needs an aerial cable to go from it and to the TV and which it hasn't got right now

When I got back from my uncle's this afternoon I asked my OH for some advice and help with sorting this but he is in the sort of mood that he just says he "isn't bothered, it isn't mine or his problem" and he won't even help me out a tiny bit ! I am

So I will just plod on and get there in the end and do it the long way no doubt.

Do you have a OH who can be like this and unhelpful and a grump?

Failing me sorting this operating of this VHS out on my own I will find and ask a man that can
Even if it costs me a few extra £s I think it will be worth it don't? Considering now my uncles same VHS which cost him £30 band new at Currys is now £70!

What has been your deal of the month or year so far?

Hi CherryBerry
It sounds like a real bargain. Do you have a friend or neighbour with a 14 or 15 year son? This sounds exactly like the sort of problem they would solve in half an hour.

It sounds like the hot weather has got to Mr CherryBerry, I am sure he will be in a different frame of mind by the weekend. If he works in London it is so hard battling on the trains and tubes in these sizzling temperatures.

F x.

Hi Deb

Foxie is soooo right. Any youngster would put us and grumpy OH's to shame. Can you borrow one from a neighbour or friend?

Hope you can sort it out.

Have you tried going into comet or a television shop and asking about the cable? They are quite good at giving advice like this. I usually say I have been given what ever it is and ask for their advice, no one has refused to help yet. Good luck.

Morning Duckegg, Bizibee, Foxie and Suziedee

My OH works from home 99% of the week so no excuses there.
Me thinks he is stressed out with work and a bit of a workaholic these past few weeks trying to get a project up and running on time.

Ducky I did try a quick search last night on the www. but nothing came up.

Suzie I might just do as you suggest and when I go next week and the shop where my uncle brought his HD TV the chap in there is very helpful and cheerful with it.

My uncle can wait till next week and is happy watching the tennis till then and has a DVD player to watch his small collection which includes The Two Ronnies which I brought for him as a birthday present this year.

A big thank you to the chick forumer who kindly pmed me with a suggestion on what I needed to do to get the VHS working.
On menthioning this pm and her suggestion to my OH just now OH has been shamed into helping me.
A minute ago finally he answered my question and it looks as if it was what I thought and also as chick had mentioned.
My OH even went on to hand me an aerial cable that came with our set top box and is spare!! Grr if only he had helped and answered me before men!

Got any good deals in the sales yet ladies?
