DAY 446 - Help, Help, Help - I have gained 6lb's!!!!!!!!!
      #411689 - 22/06/2009 07:18

Hi ladies

I am in crisis, I have just weighed myself and I have gained 6lb's since last weight-in........

Now I know I have been a bit hit and miss this last week but not THAT bad, I expected to stay the same or gain a pound not bloody six, especially after my long, long walk on Saturday???

I am hoping that it is because my muscles are so sore and stiff - what do you think ?????

I feel like an elephant ( a very bulky, stiff and ungainly one).

Oh why do we let numbers on a scale rule our lives, I feel so miserable now...

I hope everybody else does a lot better then me - Good Luck.

xx

Gilley, don't panic! It could be a whole lot of things, from water retention to hormones, even down to the fact that muscle weighs more than fat!
As for me I am stuck in a weight zone.... and have been for weeks, I don't think my scales know any other numbers!
I am going on hols in beginning of August and I would really like to lose another 5 lbs. Its not a big deal, I know it is possible,so today after work I need to listen to PMK cd again because I haven't for ages, and set myself a moving more target.
Good luck to everyone today.

Don't despair Gilley - it happens - though I'll never understand why its so easy to gain weight and so hard to lose it!

It's a lot to gain in a fortnight and it probably is partly fluid. don't give up hope!

Hi Gilley,
I posted many months ago in desperation as I had gained 6lbs in four days. I was so depressed like you are saying and just felt like i'd hit a brick wall. Looking back now from a point where i am not upset I would say to yourself 'Ok the scales say this and I;m not sure why but I am going to totally ignore my weigh in today - I will not get on the scales until two weeks today and I will carry on the pmk way. I will love me and accept what the scales say ( I mightn't agree with what they say)'. Don't let how wonderful you felt about your achievement on Saturday hold onto that and see the next two weeks as another walk that you can achieve. Today is a ...... day, let it go and carry on.
My positive thoughts are with you, I got through it and don't forget there are alot of us out here who identify and give you a big virtual hug.
Sarahjane

Morning ladies.................. I have gained 3lbs gilley and am absolutely devastated. I was heavy enough anyway but now have to take real drastic action.

I am leaving FF as I listen to CD and take in all PMK says BUT.....

My brain is so programmed to having meals at set times that I still do this AND EAT WHAT I WANT WHEN I WANT!!!!!!

So am accepting that I am a failur at PMK and going back to calorie counting.

Good luck girls.

Good morning Gilley and everyone...
I know exactly how you feel Gilley...I too gained almost six pounds just before the last weigh in and I still can't seem to shift it. As Sarahjane says maybe you shouldn't post your weight this week but carry on as before and try not to let it get you down...easier said that done I know but remember how well you've done. As the others have also said it could be due to a number of things. I'm sure you'll find that if you weigh yourself later in the week you'll have lost the weight.
Mind you Gilley I think there may be something wrong with my scales....that's what I keep telling myself. lol. I've given myself a good talking to and have started afresh this morning. Have listened to pmk and have started reading the book again.
So Gilley and everyone who has gained let's try and stay positive...WE CAN DO IT!
Hugs.
Shanti

Hi Gilley
Could there be a chance that you have built up muscle with your walking and muscle weighs more than fat. Just a thought. I haven't lost or gained but I'm thinking positively that overall I've lost 1/2 stone (that looks better than 7lbs lol)

Gilley gaining that much so quickly is really bad news but the good news is if you get quickly back into the PMK zone and continue with your walking it is likely to go quickly.I would think some of it may possibly be fluid retention so don't panic!
Having said that I'm not happy about gaining 1/2 lb but I'm relieved it's not more.I'm determined to walk more over the next fortnight and also to watch my alcohol intake. The warm weather has made me lazy and also tempted me to drink more wine than I had been doing so I'm going to ditch the alcohol and move more.Hopefully I'll see results at the next weigh in.

Q do you weigh yourself at the same time of day each weigh day?

It could be important, as your weight fluctuates through out the day, week, month, depending on what you are doing. I know I'm always heavier at night than the morning.
Don't worry Giley you will be back on track soon!

Well my scales don't register half pounds unless you're under 10 stone so I could put on or lose that much and never know (being under 10 stone would be fantastic for me). For the first time in ages I've lost this weigh in. I know from when I weighed much more often that my weight could fluctuate by four or five pounds over a week or two and then steady out again. Don't beat your self up if you've gained - PMK just says to slow down your eating again and it will all come right.

Hi gilley
Just a thought, before you weighed yourself, did you check that the counter was set at zero?

Gilley, I've gained too, but I know it's because I've been comfort eating. I need to get a grip. Just goes to show how easy it is to gain weight and how hard it is to maintain weight loss. God job tomorrow is another day. I think you may have increased your muscle mass, and everyone knows muscle weighs more than fat. Keep smiling, Sella.
