Hi
Don't know if any of you have suffered, well i had spots as a teenager but was lucky as I didn't get to many. Now at my age they are back, keep getting the occasional one and when they appear they are nasty ones- very red, must be the homones. Didn't think I'd get them again! My D loves to comment on them, sometimes even give them a name! She has so far been lucky herself. Tried to conceal them but sometimes it just makes them more noticable. Has anyone else had this problem?

Not too bad... but a few appear every month like clockwork. I try to leave them alone till they go. Doesn't really stress you out when you're older does it?
Mind you, valley, you are a good-humoured mum if you don't mind your daughter giving them names..... can you imagine if a mum did that to a teenage girl's spots!!

Hi, I never had a problem with spots at all until I hit my 40's, it is definately a hormone "thing" for me.
They are not there all the time, but when they are they are awful, never come to anything, just a red angry lump.
But at the turn of the year I had awful problems with a form of acne on my back, it was red raw and itched like mad. Got antibiotics from the doctors, it eventually cleared up, but has left me with a lot of scars which I am very aware of, so no strappy tops for me this summer.

I have acne rosacae, no badly admittedly but as it's around my nose and cheeks I feel everyone notices it. I dont know if that's what you have. Mine came on in my late thirties. Everything you read about it says avoid spicy foods and alcohol and too much sun. Mine always goes when I go abroad and when I went to India it went completely & was eating chilli omelettes at breakfast and no non spicey stuff. Read about a nutritional supplement called lysene in the telegraph a week or so ago and bought some,it seems to be working, although it could be the continental weather??

My spots are worse in my 30's than they were in my teens. I have sensitive skin and i am allergic to lanolin which is in all the face creams. At the moment, because I am so stressed I have spots all down the one side of my face. I have a horrible feeling that they are due to an allergic reaction to something I am putting on my face.
I drink 2l of water a day including a lot of green tea. If anyone ever invented a miracle cure for spots they would make an absolute fortune.

Dormouse,
if they are down one side of your face, is it the side you rest on your hand, either leaning on your elbow, or phone contact? In which case it could be nail varnish, handcream, washing up liquid, the soap in the hand dispenser at work, maybe even the stuff they use to clean your desk at work. Or it could be your phone, at home or work.
Young lad in our office has been plagued by spots, and all of a sudden his face is clear and lovely.
He's been washing his face with...antibacterial hand gel! Then rinsing it off a warm water, and using a mild moisturiser to counteract any drying effect. It was his gran's idea

My daughter has had good results with a combination of DuAc on prescription, Avon clearskin pads and Cetaphil wash.
