Tesco clothes
      #395775 - 21/05/2009 21:12

OK ladies
a new Tesco extra has just opened near to me with a large quota of their clothes on the top floor. Now I haven't been in yet to have a look...but wondered if their clothes are even worth looking at.?..I've never had one of their extra stores to browse in before .

Hi

Yes there's one in Bracknell just opened, which I hit on Sunday. I had gone with daughter a few weeks ago and bought 4 more wine glasses that more or less matched my remain 2 for £1.79 and 2 flannels at 44p each.

Sunday I ended up 2 blouses and 2 tee shirts, but in the supermarket I got 2 dresses for £24. Don't know they'll wash though and I thought they were cut smaller so got a 12 instead of 10.

I really rate Sainsbury clothes too and they wash well. Needs must at the moment, I have to economise. Maybe worth a look at any rate.

Carsma x

Bought their cheap white t-shirts for the Ds about four years ago. £1.75 and £2. Thought they might last one summer but bought next size up in hope . Both still going strong. Have not stretched or gone baggy at all. Get worn quite a lot and have proved to be a real bargain.

Tesco jeans are worth a look - the black does fade quickly though. Jumpers def - I bought a couple of the long cardigans this year and they have washed well and not stretched. Ditto their vests - actually have one on today which I have had a couiple of years. Quite impressed by their bra's as well. Some of the stuff is poor quality, cut and design but like everything , you have to look thoroughly and try it on. However , it is very easy to return so no real worries there either.

I have also bought a pair of white birkenstock look-a-likes for £3 which I have got lots of compliments on - might not last past the summer but then , what white summer shoes do?

Asda's not bad on clothes either. I buy some of my work clothes from there and mix and match with better quality items as I find that an entire outfit from there can look a bit cheap but Asda linen trousers with a smart top from somewhere more expensive doesn't look at all cheap and if they only last a few months it's not the end of the world at under £15! Think it was Trinny and Suzanna who said to judge the value of an item of clothing on a £1 per wear basis for cheaper items and £10 per wear if it costs over £100. I think my cheap trousers are now up to over 20 wears in the last couple of months so I certainly feel I've had value for money out of them. They're underwear's not too bad either.

I agree with Chrissi about Asda - I got a lovely gypsy style skirt and some cheap combats last Bank Holiday. I'll probably get the wear out of them this summer and will have had more than my money's worth. Also bought a t-shirt bra for £4 and it is one of the most comfortable bras I've ever had.

I do think you need to be selective as some of the supermarket clothes do look a bit cheap.

Definitely worth a look. Great for kids clothes too. I'm another Tesco cashmere sweater wearer

Havent bought much from Tesco, just a couple of vest tops, but they seem to be OK.
Buy work trousers from Asda, they last quite well and seem to wash up OK. For 12 pounds I dont mind if they just last for a season and I have to buy a size smaller, so that makes me feel better.

Buy combat's from Sainsburys for walking in, they are really comfortable and wash up a treat.

I have to say that i prefer Sainsburys clothes to Tesco but that's probably because our local Sainsburys is bigger and has more choice than the smaller Tesco. The Tesco near my parents' is a lot bigger so has a better choice. I find some of ASDA's clothes ok but some t-shirts and cotton tops have lost their shape quickly!
