Book club in Northampton?
      #388875 - 11/05/2009 12:32

Is there a book club set up in Northampton? Just moved to the area and keen to join and meet new people.

Details of any groups on weekends or Thurs/Fri evenings appreciated.

Thanks

Yes, Hunnibunni, I would be interested in a book club in Northampton.
The last time there was a thread on this there were 322 views so maybe this time it will take off.

Weekends and evenings better for me too.

Hope more people respond to this!

Wendy51

Great to hear you are interested Wendy51.

Anyone else interested in meeting later in the week (maybe a Thursday evening or a Saturday mid - afternoon)? And any ideas for a nice venue in Northampton?

Not sure how many people a book club is supposed to have but if we get a few more then I think we should pick a book and arrange a meet!

Anyone else up for this?

Hi

I would be interested. I did try and organise a meeting a few weeks ago but it didn't happen! Thursday evenings would be good for me. As I am fairly new to Northampton, I don't know of a many suitable venues.

Gill

I am still interested in the book club but am working abroad until mid June. Please keep me informed of the next meeting!

Maybe Sosta cafe in Abington Street forthe first meeting?
Or the library now has an area for meetings.

Hope the book group works out this time.

Hi Hunnibunni and gillrj

I was wondering if we were any further forward in arranging a meeting for the book club.

I see there have been 123 hits on this thread so maybe there is more interest in forming a book club in Northampton than last time.

Look forward to hearing from you

Wendy

Hi at last we seem to going in the right direction. Thursday evening or mid afternoon suits me, that might be the better option for a first meet as it may be difficult to find some where
in the evening in town!

Thursday evening is fine for me and next week I could also meet mid afternoon on Thursday and Friday. As people work, maybe an evening would be better.
Now there have been 149 hits on this thread - surely with this interest we could get a group together?

There seems to be enough interest for a book group in Northampton so why don't we go ahead and plan the first meeting. What about the evening of Thursday 23rd or 30th July at 7.30pm?

Not too familiar with the town so don't know where would be a good place to meet. Are there any nice non starbucks type coffee shops?

Also need to pick a book - again not too sure how we go about this. Anyone got any suggestions? If we can't come up with one then how about "The Shack" by William Paul Young?

So we kind of have a date (or two!) and a book - just need a place to meet and some willing readers! Do let me know if you are interested and we can have the inaugral meeting!

I'm super-interested too! But I'm also new to Northampton and don't really know any good places to meet yet.... the 23rd would be good as I'm away the following week, but obviously go ahead with whatever is best for you and I can catch up.

Am very happy to see this post, as I was running out of leads!

Hi

Just back from a few weeks holiday. Did the Book group meet? If so, how did it go and is another one planned?

Gill

Did you have any luck organising a Book Club in Northampton. I would be interested. There are some nice coffee shops in College Street (at the back of Debenhams) but the Library is also very central.
