Bath to Bristol walk Sunday 10th May
      #381982 - 28/04/2009 23:04

Anyone interested in joining me for a 16 mile walk on the cyclepath from Bath to Bristol on Sunday 10th May, starting in Bath then train or car back to Bath (depending on numbers) I'm doing it to 'rehearse' for the 20 mile Blenheim charity walk at end of May but get bored of myself walking for any distance over 10 miles and could do with some company!

Hi Lyn, You are obviously a serious walker - I know I would struggle with even 10 miles - can you give me more info of the day plan though - possibly I could walk part way ( until stretchered off). I am trying to up my excercise to lose weight so want to walk properly ( which I guess you do) rather than ramble with a group.
BTW - have we met? I am not sure if you came to Bath supper club - saw you on the forum...

Letty

Hi Letty
Not too sure about the serious walker part - have done 10 miles twice (canal bank, straight and flat!) and felt I'd had enough, wondering how on earth I'd manage to do the same amount again to get to 20 miles! That's why I'd like to try 15 miles, so will probably join you on the stretcher to the pub! It's not a structured organised thing, so anything goes really. If I didn't get any interest, I'm sure I would probably talk myself out of it before Sunday. There is one other lady so far who says she'd lke to join in, and again doubts the 15 mile bit, so would be great if you could make it too. I thought we'd need to kick off about 11 am from Bath and am sure I can dig hubby out to pick us up from Bristol or somewhere along the line. The walk is detailed on the internet if you put Bath-Bristol cyclepath into Google, complete with photos along the way if you want to have a look.
I didn't make it to the Bath supper club as I saw the posting after the event, but keeping a look out for the next one. I think we might have exchanged an email about it!
Let me know if you can come. I suppose it will have to be rain or shine!

Lynne

Hi Letty
Excellent! I was looking at the websites last night and one of them said it was 13 miles, so we might make it! 10 miles usually takes 2 - 2.5 hours so reckon on about 3 hours max. Depends how much we stop for refreshments, ice creams, sit downs, pubs etc!! The walk starts in Brassmill Lane Trading Estate, Newbridge - can you get there or do you want picking up?
Lynne

Yes I can get there - you mean where the cycle path starts

How will we recognise each other?
will we need jacket/waterbottle.anything else?

I had better start limbering up - I just got up from my desk and was as stiff as a board!
