Come on Ladies,I NEVER post first about a book, mainly because I feel I am hoeless at reviews, but someone has to be first sooooo,
Yes another book I loved. It dipped this way and that, got me very confused at times but of course it all comes together beautifully in the end.My favourite character was definately Reggie,I thought she was brilliant for a 16year old and had had to put up with so much.Amazing too how the very end of the story tied in so neatly with the very beginning. I have read most of Kate Atkinson and liked them all especially "Behind the scenes at the Museum" but "When will there be Good News" is most certainly another favourite. Thanks so much for the recomendation.

Hi Nannyconnie Loved it too. Another excellent book by Kate Atkinson. I really like the way she does character studies. Her pen portraits bring them to life. Reggie is my favourite character. A feisty young lady who has been through so much. A criticism might be how she leaves one scene to go to another, like leaving the train crash and moving on to some thing else leaving us in suspense. She does however , pull it all together. It was good to see Louise and Jackson back together again. Thankyou for recommending this book I couldn't put it down.

Hi,there all Eyes Down clubbers. Haven't read any Kate Atkinson books before so was looking forward to a new author. So how do I begin? I have to say I found it really hard going to start with, too much tooing and froing and way too much going on. I really struggled to keep on reading it. What a palarva I thought and to be perfectly honest I couldn't tell you where or when in the story it suddenly became an unputdownable read. An extremely good book, which has been passed on already to someone else. Can't wait to read another one of hers. Thanks for a great suggestion.

Apologies ladies for not posting for a couple of months -I've been away on holiday (on a cruise round Africa!) but am now intending to keep up with the books! Glad so far my Kate Atkinson suggestion has been liked. I've read all of the Jackson Brodie books and really enjoyed them. When will there be good news is as good as the previous 2 - she is so good with her characters and you can imagine exactly what they are like. Love all the detail she puts in and the way the relaionships between the characters develop. Thought Reggie was wonderful -old beyond her years and such a sad life she'd had. I agree that there is a lot of toing and froing to start with but I think she is so clever at weaving all the strands together and keeping you guessing about the outcome. I couldn't put it down once I'd started reading
Kate Atkinson was speaking at the Oxford Lit festival this week and a friend of mine went to hear her -apparently there is another Brodie book coming and maybe a TV programme! Who could play Brodie? If you haven't read any of her books before I recommend the other 2 in this series and Behind the scenes at a Museum -brilliant!

Thanks jennifer36 for the recommendation I too have throughly enjoyed this book. Having previously read One Good Turn I was familar with the charecters of Brodie and Louise I liked the fact that they met up again in this novel. As for who would play Brodie? someone tall talk and handsome, at the moment I like the guy in Robin Hood (Sorry don't know his name or his character but he was in Vicar of Dibberly as Geraldines love interest and in Spooks I think). Who else does anyone think would make a good Brodie? I liked Reggie but I thought Dr Hunter was brill as well. The plot was a good one and for me a page turner. Will definately read Behind the Scenes at the Museum now. Billie

Well, it looks like we're all Kate Atkinson fans on here. 'Behind the Scenes at the Museum' is one of my all time favourite books. I've read the first two books featuring Jackson Brodie which I would describe as enjoyable rather than memorable but I thought 'When Will There be Good News' was a cut above the previous two. Maybe this was because the emphasis was on the character of Reggie rather than Jackson Brodie. I certainly hope that we haven't heard the last of her. I have to admit to being a bit confused by the ending. There are several questions which I felt were left unanswered and I'm not sure whether I missed something at the beginning or if I'm just being a bit dense. How did Jackson and Andrew Dexter come to switch identities? Was Andrew Dexter the man in the thin suit on the train ? How did Jackson's blackberry end up in the hands of the thugs who kidnapped Joanna Mason? Did Andrew Dexter really commit suicide? I'm not surprised to hear that there will be a follow on book since there were several loose ends to tie up. Will Jackson and Louise finally get together? Is Louise pregnant? Will Jackson pursue his paternity claim over Julia's son? Can't wait.
EYES DOWN CLUB I've had a couple of suggestions for the next list of books but I could still do with a few more.

I have just got Case Histories from Charity Shop. I'm not sure if this is the first one about Jackson Brodie. I hope it will be OK to read it after When will there be good news and One good turn. Ginnie
