Using a microwave......
      #319512 - 27/01/2009 10:50

If you use a microwave and the instructions say 10 minutes, if you do more than one thing at the same time, do you double the time needed?
Thanks,
Bluebella

If you do 2 things that both say 10 minutes, you don't need to double the time, but you do need to allow longer.

I always stir it around, and make sure it is 'piping hot'.

Quite often it needs more than it says, with my old microwave.

So if a jacket potato was say 7 minutes, and you did two - how long would you allow?
Also packets of rice, if one takes 5 minutes, how long would you do two for?

I say having used a microwave for years that its hit and miss
You need more time but dont double it, err on the safe side cos you dont want to destroy it.
I sometimes do 2 or 3 pots and I safely do 5 mins, see what they are like and turn them over then plump for another five or so , it depends on their size.
So a bit of trial and error.
We had a fire in the office recently as a certain person took instructions for cooking in oven and just took some minutes off for the microwave, then we all left the office for a meeting and next thing the fire brigade were here.
Apparently shes only ever had an Aga !!!!!!!!!!!!
