DAY 299 ... PULL THAT TRIGGER
      #316531 - 24/01/2009 11:17

No, I'm not suggesting you get out a gun and shoot your OH! Instead, get into your cupboards and fridges and have a good clear out of all your trigger foods - you know the ones - the one pop and you can't stop foods. We're well into January now, so anything that's left over from the festivities has to be pulled!

I'm celebrating the anniversary of Robert Burns tonight, so I'll be having haggis, neeps and tatties at a friend's house. I don't think anyone would describe those as trigger foods !

OOps sella_vee

I have just popped and couldn't stop the remains of a certain tube of crispy products - does that still class as clearing out / pulling the trigger

We munched all our trigger foods Sella, and had the weight gain to prove it!

My fridge is full of vegetables, after the other day's post - next thing is to transfer them from the fridge into us - which I'll be doing today. Hope you all ahve a good day.

That's exactly what happens, gilley, isn't it? My willpower goes straight out the window where certain foods are concerned.

Now consider them cleared out and DON'T BUY ANOTHER TUBE!!!!!

Chickadee, congratulations on your healthy fridge. Now go and check that you've not got a big tin of Quality Street hiding behind the settee, ready to ambush the unwary.

Oooh - wondered what you were suggesting there, Sella!

Hi Sella, Gilley and Chickadee. I don't have anything left at home trigger-wise - OH likes crisps and biscuits, so I do have to have those at home, but luckily I don't like crisps and I try to buy the kind of biscuits I wouldn't be tempted with. He likes things like bourbon biscuits, custard creams and jaffa cakes, which don't appeal to me at all.

Congratulations on your fridge full of veg, Chickadee - hope you enjoy it all! And Gilley, at least those crisps have gone now and are not there beckoning you!

Enjoy that haggis tonight Sella! Can't say I envy you the haggis, but I'm sure you'll have a good night anyway.

Sella, I rather wish I had! In my chocoholic days, I used to hide sweets and chocs so my d. wouldn't find them and eat them all, but I ahve never yet found a hiding place that she couldn't locate - I think she can smell chocolate a 100yards.

Wo no lurking Quality St. here. I do have a bar of 70%plain choc, but I can only manage a little bit of that at a time (I've had it for a month!) and I don't like it all that much, so I think it counts as a health food!

Feeling smug as I haven't got anything in at present that would trigger a binge.I drank the last glass of wine last night and OH has announced today that he is having no more alcohol until he has lost at least 1 stone. If he sticks to that it will be a huge help to me too.

One of my worst triggers is milk chocolate covered raisins, so I don't buy them EVER. Even the smell calls me???? Why does a chocolate covered raisin have so much power over me???

Afternoon again girls,

sella, Ive still got a tin of quality Street and other boxes of chocolates and boxes of bicuits left over, but as long as they remain sealed Im fine, I have no intensions of opening them until Easter now, and OH has been well warned to leave well alone too.

Im going to a Burns supper at OH mum and dads tonight too, Like you sella, I can definately resist the second helping.

Ive got a healthy fridge and freezer too chick, it feels very good doesnt it?lol

I'm the same with sealed tins, mjm. It's OK as long as I don't open them. The 70% dark chocolate is what I have for my treat because, like Chickadee, I can't eat too much of it.

Dec, my OH always gives up alcohol for Lent and loses a stone and a half. The last time I tried that I didn't lose anything. I must not have drank enough alcohol in those days.

Foxie, learning what my trigger foods were was a big help to me, and no Blossom, chocolate covered raisins do not count as a fruit; but I'm sure wine does - it's made from grapes! This is easy for me to say, as dried fruit brings me out in a rash.

Alex, I buy biscuits that I don't like for OH and YS. It stops me yielding to temptation.

It does feel good mjm. Sella, I have drunk no wine and, apart from last night when I had a couple of stiff G&Ts, very little other alcohol for three weeks now. I'd like to think I'd lost weight as a result, but I'm not so sure!

It's funny Alex, guess what biscuits I don't like - bourbons, custard creams and jaffa cakes! Even so I can force ccs and jaffa cakes down my throat - but definitely NOT Bourbons. Or garibaldi biscuits ...squashed flies!

Absolutely agree about the biscuits, yuk! Have been having the odd savoury cracker left in the christmas biscuits and cheese tin with my soup recently and much prefer them. Chocolate is my downfall every time, but the guru and I are working on it
