Feedback to editorial team
      #315784 - 23/01/2009 16:21

Following on from the discussions in this forum, I decided to send an email to the editorial team. Never being someone to use one word where two will do, it went on a bit, so this is very much an edited version. No reply as yet, but it was only sent yesterday.

"Dear Editorial team

I'm sending this email to let you know that I am very much disillusioned with Woman & Home. Despite the financial crisis, the magazine continues to feature highly priced items of fashion wear, often several hundred pounds for an outfit. We have so-called celebrities who often have nothing interesting to say and with whom we do not identify at all, and a lot of articles putting pressure on women to 'have it all' and change their lifestyle to become more dynamic and presumably earn enough money to pay for the items you advertise and recommend. Many of us are quite content with the lifestyle we have! I consider myself pretty 'average' - not poor, but certainly not rich but it seems that you are trying to attract a totally different kind of woman to read your magazine. I am certainly not alone in this opinion, because this has been aired on the website forums at some length. Several of us have sent emails to the Editor, who never responds, and your statement on the website that you welcome feedback rings rather hollow as there is never any response & none of our comments and suggestions have made any difference.

We would also like to know if anyone ever wins the competitions. Could we have a list of prizewinners please?

I hope for a reply but on previous experience am sending this more in hope than expectation.

Yours etc "

Its all kicking off isnt it? I totally agree with everything you said Anneh1957.Most of us are average!Average body, looks, income, life.Completely average....but Happy. Not needing life changing stuff just plodding along being there and dont need our lives being overhauled. They may be losing the plot you know.

Hi ladies,
I wonder if the editorial team are providing a mental poke in the ribs with "have you ever thought of this?"...to take us average ladies out of our comfort zone.

I must admit in this time of crisis for the country and myself personally, I feel my response is similar to the views here..."aye, I've thought of it, but it's not for me at the moment"

Super............ just my sentiments. But if you have read my postings, you will notice that I am 100% behind you. However my intestinal reaction to your [and my] comments would be.............. dream on!

Thanks for the support, and guess what, you were absolutely right! Have I had any reply from the editorial team? What do you think??? Obviously readers' opinions are beneath contempt.....
