Hi all, I forgot to post here with the details of next Saturdays walk. I think I emailed most people direct, sorry if I missed anyone. It would also be nice to see a few new faces so why not give it a go?!
Mike and I did a great walk last week and I wondered whether anyone might like to join me for it on Saturday 24th January, starting at 10.30am. G.R. 980697 It’s a circular walk in the Vale starting at Llanmaes, then to Llanmihangel, St.Mary Church then returning to Llanmaes where there is a very convenient pub. We should be back in time for a late lunch here or we can have sandwiches on the walk. There is a convenient stop with benches at St.Mary Church.
Distance: 5 ½ miles.
The walk will take 3 ¼ hrs approx. including rest breaks. It is described as a moderate walk in the book. It is over a mix of farmers fields, country lanes and woodland with a couple of very short climbs and a good few stiles.
Parking is on the road at the front of The Blacksmiths Arms. I’ve not checked with the landlord so best not use the pub carpark. For those with maps it is on Explorer 151 and Landranger 170. The start is at Blacksmiths Arms, G.R. 980697.
For anyone new, you'll need walking boots as the ground may be quite muddy now after the recent rain. We usually carry a small rucksack with a snack and drink. my mobile number is 07534026485. Home phone 02920 514753. Please ring to introduce yourself or for more details
See you Saturday Cath

Hi everyone, Thanks for all replying and I am looking forward to seeing those who are able to come on Saturday. Please ring my mobile 07534026485 if you are held up or get lost. Does anyone need detailed instructions to get to the venue. In the event of really wet weather I will try to organise a shorter walk along the lanes there with a longer lunch break!!! all thye best Cath

Hi everyone, This is the same message as my latest email just in case there is anyone new who just turns up. .......I have called at the Blacksmiths Arms and we have permission to leave cars in the car park. I suggest the furthest corner from the pub. See you there 10.15-10.30. Also I have been down there to check the state of the fields which are fairly wet and could get very muddy. I have checked out a 5mile walk from the pub along small country lanes. This might be a better option if the weather continues to be poor. We’ll discuss it when we meet. Best wishes Cath
