My new kitchen has been ordered, due 1st week in March. I have a question though - do any of you have an opinion on condenser washer dryers v vented ones ? At the moment i have a condenser one but the integrated one in my new kitchen is a vented one, is there any difference in the output of the dryer ? I'm not impressed with the one i have now really, it's a Zanussi and it takes absolutely ages to dry heavy stuff like towels etc. Does anyone have a vented one ? Whats your opinion on the dryer part of the washer ? I've gone for the vented one to keep costs down as i chose loads of fancy extras !!! I'd rather have lovely taps, sinks and worktops than an all singing dancing washer which you cant see ! No space for a separate dryer i'm afraid so no other option really.

I think "Which" don't rate washer dryers as highly as separate items. My son has one due to limited space and it only dries half the washed load at a time. We have a vented dryer and as long as the hose can vent out I think it's easier than a condenser dryer. You need the space for 2 appliances though unless you can put the dryer in a utility room.

I have had three different condenser dryers but wouldn't have another. They have been so unreliable!

We also have a washer dryer due to limited space and I agree that the drier on it isn't very good. We dry clothes on a maiden, radiators on on the washing line.
I must admit I'd go for the fancy taps too

I have a washer/dryer in our holiday home and it is absolutely useless. I would definitely have seperate, even if it means having the dryer in another room. Have only ever had vented dryers which are excellent

the chap from magnet has just been to do a final measure up and says delivery will be on march 5th now,i'm glad it's not the week before as i cant get any time off !! Will have to go for the washer dryer as no space for anything else and only other place i can put a dryer is outside in the garage which is a walk from the house. i've lost some space as i'm having an integrated fridge freezer and i only have a fridge at the moment (freezer outside in garage) so have had to make some concessions with units. i suppose it will make me get rid of some of the rubbish which i seem to have accumulated ! i'm dreading it really, i'd like to go away and come back when it's done !

I have a Miele condenser drier and I am really pleased with it.
Bluebell - your kitchen sounds lovely. When I got my new kitchen for about the first 6 weeks afterwards I kept getting a lovely 'glow' every time I went into the kitchen first thing in the morning. Good luck with everything, hope you will post some piccis
Marie50 - I would really recommend you have a good declutter before you have to empty all the old cupboards out. Good idea to have the freezer in the kitchen. The 'during' is awful, but just hang on and remember that it will all be worthwhile.

I have an LG washer drier and have found it very reliable and very useful(have had it about three years) But It does take rether a long time on the drying cycle but I do only use that when I have to as I prefer to 'hang out' or someimtes use the radiators for bigger things.

will have to have a MAJOR declutter !!! I'm quite ruthless once i get going (have just had 2 bedrooms completely re done and just a week before xmas too !) i got to know the bloke at the tip very well !! i want to have everything out of sight in my new kitchen so lots of stuff will have to go. mainly old crockery, easter egg mugs, that sort of thing which no one has ever used ! dont know really why i've kept them. i have a friend who has just had a new kitchen and she has a coffee set (remember them ?) from when she got married (27 years ago) it's not a well known make so i said to her "get rid of it!" she couldn't do it, it's still on her worktop ! she never uses it, she cant even remember who bought it !! hope i never get that bad ! i'm looking forward to getting rid of loads of stuff, the local charity shop will benefit. i think we all keep far too much stuff don't you ? as for the washer/dryer. it's a condenser, i've decided.

i had a zanussi washer dryer that lasted 13 years, and was still going strong when we moved to a built in Electrolus washer dryer. The zanussi was vented, and saw me through towelling nappies and baby/toddler clothes. I never ever did a wash/dry. I always sorted stuff out first, and dried as much as possible, but I did that when i had a seperate dryer too.
The electrolux is condenser and is brilliant too.
I generally only use a dryer for socks and pants (life is too short to peg socks on the line) and to finish off towels. But both are absolutely fine.

I've got a Bosch condenser washer dryer - about 2 years old - and I think it's pretty good. Probably not as good as a separate appliance, but considering the space and so on it's really great.
