Moving More2 THINK like an active person
      #305611 - 12/01/2009 21:22

My Gran used to say that the best thing anyone ever said to her was that she was an active lady.(she was 90 and partially sighted)

Lets start THINKING like active people!

Active people would;
..meet friends at the pool instead of the coffee shop
..take the wheelie bin out instead of leaving it to OH
..wash the car by hand
...take the bus more
...
(you can fill in the gaps..have done too much moving today and I am tired!!)

Help..my mind has gone blank and it is only day 2!!LOL

ahh..thought of some more;
Active people would;
..have the timetable for leisure classes at their local leisure centre
..have the number of said leisure centre instead of their local takeaway
..have decent flat shoes to walk in (briskly or leisuely)
...talk to others about their plans to move more and get support
...encourage their children and oh to join in with activity
...be constantly on the lookout for ways to make activity interesting.!!

They would think of exercise as being part of their lives and not something they have to do.
They would schedule it as if it were an unbrekable appointment.
They would adopt a no excuses mindset.

Just on 14768 steps at the mo, will hit 15,000 before bed.

Oh I wanted to be more active...I thought like an active person but it was bucketing down outside. I went out to do what I needed to do but abandoned my plan to go for a walk...was that an excuse? Would an active person gone and got soaked anyway?

I can't imagine getting the bus but I am prepared to park further away, take the stairs rather than the lift and walk to the local shop instead of driving...if it doesn't rain...

Only tallied 3010 steps today - blame the weather. But I've been tipped off about jogging on the spot while ironing so I'll bear that in mind....

No Ashbee...an active person would probably have done some other form of moving, but inside....I don't like getting soaked either!!(I bet Chilla would have gone out..brave soul!)
Thats why we need to be prepared for every eventuality...when plans get changed!

Goodnight y'all!!OH calling me...!

Bel,Mr Motivator says never walk past the stairs without running up and down them.I have to pass my stairs every time I go to the kitchen so if I take his advice I'd probably be slim in no time!
An active person would play real Badminton,Table Tennis ,etc and not sit playing computer games.
An active person would get her own hot drink in the morning and not expect OH to bring it upstairs before he goes to work.No sorry,I've decided that's a sacrifice I can't make.
An active person would walk briskly rather than shuffle.
And final message just for Blossom,your message box is full.I've just wasted my energy trying to send you a message,I could have been running on the spot instead of typing!
I'm not feeling too great at the moment so unfortunately need to recover a bit before doing anything too strenuous.
But I've bought some exercise DVDs and will be raring to go in a couple of days.I'll give you a report on how good they are when I've tried them out.
As Peter Kay says,Remember to breathe when you're exercising,otherwise you're dead!
Off to bed now so good night everyone
