Hi everybody i have recently had my hair restyled to a shortish but long on top choppy style (i actually took a picture that i found in W&H that i liked to my hairdressers and they tried to copy it) i use smoothing products or curl enhancing products depending on what look i'm aiming for - most of the time its hit and miss!
i have tigi, aveda, charles worthington - i'm a bit flummoxed and in a muddle about what to use - i can't stand these tacky pastes thst make your hair feel like candyfloss
What do you all use and recommend?

I use 'Sun, Swim & Sand' by Boots. Shampoo and conditioner. Have used it since someone on here recommended it some time ago. It helps my fine 'fly away' hair but I still need some 'leave in' conditioner and use either 'Aussie' brand or Dove. I think everyone needs to find their own system really depending on their hair texture! Good luck!

Hi Nellymay. welcome. I like John Frieda's brilliant brunette satin shine finishing creme. You only need a tiny blob the size of our little fingernail & it holds & calms without feeling sticky like gels or putty. My hair is very thick, wavy and quite dry.

Im afraid I use lots of hair spray ....not good I know but my hair is very fine and its the only way I have ever found of holding any style at all .Without it my hair lies flat on my head ...not a good look! I do use a good expensive one that I get from the Hairdressers but cant remember the name at the moment!

Just like Lisianthus, my favourites are Aveda and Kerastase. Also have some Frederic Fekkai products, which are good too - the latest of theirs which I like is Au Naturel shampoo.

I don't use many hair products but whan I do I also like Kerastase. The products of theirs I use smell wonderful too.
For washing I use Herbal Essences and occasionally Aussie for deep cleansing conditioner which is left in for 3 minutes before washing out.

Does anyone use any product before using hair straighteners?

I don't use straighteners Tigerfeet, sorry. My daughter does but only uses shampoo and conditioner prior to using the straighteners. I love Burts Bees shampoos and conditioners. I used to use Clarins shampoo but they have discontinued it.

Tigerfeet I use Aussie leave in conditioner before blowdrying and straightening although I would use it regardless. It has helped with split ends and my hair breaking. I think you're supposed to use something - I got a free spray with my GHDs but have only used it once or twice.

I use whatever my hairdresser daughter decrees. She's been known to check my bathroom and dispose of shampoos and conditioners she dislikes.
But the one hair product I love in Nice and Easy conditioner. Just under a pound a tube, does 3 treatments, use weekly and it keeps hair soft, shiny and makes your colour last

I use a Lee Stafford ( sold in Boots in a bright pink plastic bottle ) spray before using my GHD's... about £4-99 & it smells lovely

Hi Nellymay
Of the salon brands I like MOP's C system hydrating shampoo and Aveda's Rosemary Mint shampoo as I love the gorgeous aromas and they seem to give good results. Of the cheaper high street brands I like Tresemme and Aussie shampoos and conditioners.
At the moment my scalp is a bit dry and itchy (unusual for me - think I'm still a bit rundown as had the flu over Christmas ), so to resolve this I am using Philip Kingsley's Dry and Flaky scalp shampoo which I can also recommend.
