Hope everyone is ok this morning and not too cold.
Over the last 3 months, I have been undertaking a training course for a voluntary organisation to lend a helping hand to families with young children under school age. Completed this in December, but am meeting my first "family" today which I am excited about, but also quite nervous (guess they are too).
It will just entail helping out a couple of hours a week where help is needed. The family have a toddler and just had twins!
What are all your plans for today?
Keep safe and warm.

Morning Amelica
Going to Slimming World to be weighed after my first week and I just hope I have lost a pound at least lol.
Do some walking after that to get my 'steps up' on my pedometer but no cappuchino and cake like I used to in Marks for me sniff !

Good Luck Amelica !! Hope you all like each other ...as you say they are probably more nervous than you but then again with newborn twins they wont have any time to fret! twins are VERY hard work ....lovely but a challenge to any one in my experience and we have four sets of twins in our immediate family! Keep warm and let us know how it goes xx

Yes Amelica I am struggling without my cake and coffee every single day I can tell you lol - I have occasionally given in and had a small cappuchino though !
The work situation still remains the same - things are so quiet still and I am having to be patient, but I am sure one day soon I will find one !

Its been almost a year since I was made redundant and am fortunate enough that I dont have to work, but it did really change my life and outlook. My BIL died last March, just a year older than me, and it made me realise not to sit around moping and feeling sorry for myself, but to get on and do something for me! So I did and am quite chuffed with myself now.
Hope you find something real soon. Must be so hard when you need to work. Keep fingers crossed for you.

Morning Amelica, Lillie and Splash, Well Bruce got retrenched today. It isn't a surprise and it isn't a tragedy. He gets 88 weeks pay........ He really needs some time to recover from his illness and conditions in his company have been getting more unbearable. He also gets assistance seeking new employment etc. I hope I'm not being naive but somehow it justs feels right. So.......we had some champagne (Well Australian sparkling) at about 2 PM and have just woken up! Mitchell and Bridgette whizzed around and finished the housework....poor little kids while their parents were in an alcoholic stupor! lol! Also, got a postcard from Marina! She seems to be having a lovely time!

Hi Ozzie
Does retrenched mean made redundant (no longer working?). Forgive my ignorance! If its the best thing for you all, then well done and good luck! Hope his illness gets sorted out or improves this year. Hows the head???
If you haven't guessed by now, weather here in the UK is very very chilly. 0 deg during the day and well into the minuses at night. More snow/rain due today - please send us some lovely sunshine!!
Have a good day once the hangover goes!

I'm a great believer in gut instint Ozzie Kez, so if it feels right, go with it and trust your instincts.
Amelica1, you'll be fine, it sounds like there's a lot of common sense and a level head needed; walk in the park for you.
So far today, i seem to have been extracting compated snow out of dogs' paws - sooo glamorous my life. Rest od the day at work - dull, dull , dull zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Oh, I might book the cottage for the girlie dancing weekend in Glastonbury, that'll be fun.

Amelica2, can't think of a better job for you, I think you'll love it!
Lillie, think of your waistline. Don't go making M&S broke now, you owe it to the country to have the occasional cake. Ozzie, glad you're feeling confident about the future. New year, new start for you.
Splash, How's the training going? Will you be on Facebook today?
Have a great day everyone, I am still doing paperwork but can see the end of the pile now.

Chilla, A girlie dancing weekend at Glastonbury sounds so exotic.......I would love that. I could whizz back to the Oxfam shop and get some Belly Dancing gear.......It was tiny though. I don't think they have it in my size.... Can you dance with a sabre on your forehead?

Got it in one, Amelica2! I'm going to change my thoughts on this though. If I'm making sarnies it means he's got a job to go to, so I shall count my blessings.
Lovely sarnies, I love making them...

Only if I glue it on first! Never been a fan of sword dancing, prefer sticks or a bit of a waft with a veil.
You've obviously been looking in the wrong shops! There used to be two girls that came to a class, and boy, they wee big women size 26 and 28. They treat themselves to a trip to Cairo, got two matching gold dresses made with all sorts of beading that swished and swayed when they moved - they not only danced brilliantly, but they looked fantastic as well. So on your way over to exotic Glastonbury (not in cold March, it isn't), pop into Cairo. Anyway I've seen a pic of you, you're only little!!!

Thank you Mange, I shall give it a go in a min! Chilla, The leading dancer in the group which does all the festivals in Brizzie is not a small lassie. She is incredible. She does the sabre thing - she's not a young woman either - but, she's ALL woman!!!! The sabre goes from spinning on top of her head, to her forehead, down to "the Balcony". Lessons are on Wednesday nights - maybe I'll get a chance to go to them now Bruce doesn't need as much attention!
