DAY 283 ... IT'S REALLY VERY EASY ...
      #299357 - 07/01/2009 05:07

to put weight on. Lots of us gained weight over the Festive Season, with 3lb being a "popular" choice! If we were to keep that up for 6 months we'd be just over 2 and a half stones heavier!!

I don't know if any of you saw Claire Sweeney on TV last night. She had a mere 6 weeks of eating whatever she liked for this TV programme - AND SHE PUT ON 2 STONES.

What was interesting for me watching it was that I was thinking "That's not how I would want to eat these days." OK, in social situations I sometimes eat more than I would normally chose to, but on the whole I'm chosing to eat more healthily, and most importantly, I'm trying to STOP before I am totally full.

I don't think a little blip over Christmas and New Year is going to do us any harm, and I for one, did enjoy many of the mouthfuls I ate , but it's worth bearing in mind how easy it is to slide down that slippery slope. That programme couldn't have come at a better time for me. (It said at the end that Claire has lost all but half a stone of the weight she put on.)

So now I'm going to train myself to like the food that does my body good. (I'm a poet, dontcha know it!)

I saw the Claire Sweeney programme it was sickening to see her eating so unhealthy food. BUT I was amazed at how easy it was for her to gain so much in such a short time the change in her was dramatic .It was a warning I think ...and I think i will think of her when Im tempted to overdo things! the doctor did say that overeating once in a while is fine but not all the time ....sensible advice and we all know it....its carrying it out thats the hard part!
Good luck everyone trying to lose those stubborn pounds!...not many of us.. if any at all.. that can get away with eating what we fancy all the time!

Good Morning Splash and Sella V

I have just finished watching the Claire Sweeney programme and wow what a shock - it came at the right time for us all I think.

I also thought I would not want to eat that sort of food or amount of food all the time, it was quite unapealing so pmk must be working.

After the richness of Christmas it was quite nice to get back to healthy eating - As Claire said "you feel you want to cleanse your internal body".

Back to Basics for us all

Good morning sella, splash and gilley.

I havent seen the Claire Sweeney programme, but I can just imagine what she was eating!

Sella, did it say how long it took her to lose the weight again?

I agree gilley, getting back to a healthier diet after Christmas is a bit of a relief, back to basics sounds good.

Im off for my walk this morning, the first this year.

I hope you all have a lovely, healthy day!!

Hi everyone,
Not been on forum for a while - have missed you all and the daily support - back now!!!!!
Put on 2.1/2lbs over the holiday period - back to PMK for me!!
Saw the Claire Sweeney programme - it was fascinating - even if just to realise what we used to eat like ourselves, before MJM - thanks again - and PMK.
Have a lovely healthy day
Anne xx

Morning girls. Splash and gilley, I agree about the food she was eating. She had a burger when she was in the States that looke horrible to me. She could hardly get her hands round it, never mind her mouth.

I hope you've had a lovely walk, mjm. It didn't say how long it was taking her to get the weight back off again, but I suspect it'll be a lot longer than six weeks. The programme looked as if it was made in the summer, judging by what she was wearing, and it said during the credits at the end that she was working at losing the last half stone, which means she isn't yet back to her normal weight. I'm guessing six weeks to put it on, and six months to get it off again - and her blood pressure had shot up too.

I think for most of us, gaining a little bit of weight over Christmas, or staying the same, has motivated us to try harder now that the festivities (and the Quality Street) are over. So keep up the good work everyone.

Eat less, move more.

Morning everyone,I've taped the Claire Sweeney programme so haven't seen it yet.
I do think that by the next weigh you will all have lost the weight you've gained over Christmas because you are doing something about it before it has time to "settle"

My OH came back from our holidays 5lbs heavier and he is now back to his normal weight, just by returning to normal eating and having an evening walk with me.So I'm sure it will be the same for you

I'm hoping upping my activity levels will get my weight moving, and I'm pleased to say that I don't want to drink alcohol this week so that should make a difference.I saw a programme on TV a while ago which showed how much sugar we are taking in to our bodies along with the alcohol and it was a huge amount. Not something we would usually think about, and definitely not good for us.My liver and kidneys will be glad of a rest!

Hi everyone

Well, I have to say that staying off unhealthy food is not a problem for me at the moment! In fact the difficulty is finding anything that I want to eat - I can't think when I last had such a total loss of appetite, while my main form of exercise is expanding and contracting my rib cage to cough!. The thought of alcohol makes me feel queasy. But I wouldn't recommend such a drastic method of losing the Christmas excess!!!

I did listen to pmk this morning and watched his programme last night and I'm planning to eat very healthily when I do atlast resume something approaching normal eating. Hopefully my appetite will have decreased by then too, so I'll find it easy to eat less!

Afternoon everyone I am late today been at work this morning and then have been on my walk with Amber. I have had two good day's eating very healthy and no alcohol. I did not watch the programme with Claire but I did see the trailors and watching her eating that burger was enough. I have watched the PMK programme it's the one when he is in America. I was so excited when I saw it I made note's in my food diary to remind myself. As he says don't have food in the fridge that you know you don't like, only have food you do like to inspire you. He also reminded me that stop eating when you think you are full, and if you are hungry again in half an hour then eat as long as you follow the rules.Enjoy the rest of the afternoon ladies xx

Mjm ...I agree with you..there IS a real feel good factor on here at the moment..on all the threads really, not just this one.Everyone seems to be motivated and positive which is a real antidote to the depression some of us experience at this time of year.I think just talking about inspirational things does us all the world of good....!

Keep on posting ladies ( and any gents that may be out ther!!)

Hi Everyone
I watched Claire Sweeney last night and was just so surprised how quickly she changed her shape and fitness levels. I was horrified when I heard about her blood pressure being so high when she is a young woman.

Really makes you think twice and realise it is important to get back on the straight and narrow (or PMK as we say in FF speak!).

Chickee - sending you lots of get well wishes!

SL -what a bargain!

mjm/blossie - I agree with you - everyone let's really try and keep the upbeat/feel good factor on this post. There is so much doom and gloom in the news, on the radio, on the TV it is lovely to have one upbeat place to come too.

Enjoy the rest of your day.
Foxie x.

Hi All, very late getting on today, but just wanted to say I am finding that starting the day healthily helps me to stay that way. I can easily get out of the habit of eating anything first thing and then when I get to work having a couple of biscuits with my tea, so no more of that, start the day how I wanto finish it is my new motto

Hi ladies.........I heartily agree with all you say. I too am feeling so positive this year and I am sure it is due to all the good vibes from the forum. I am progressing with all I want to achieve and feel real chuffed with myself. I am eating very well, my chest is behaving and haven't had an attack for 6 weeks!!! I seem to be controlling it rather than the other way round.

All in all I feel real good.............however I do feel for those ladies who suffer with depression who find this time of year hard to deal with. My heart goes out to them.

For all those ladies keep talking on here and try and keep your chins up....

For the rest .......... keep positive..... keep walking and keep eating healthily............

Thimble..you are so right. When you are experiencing depression, the last thing you want to do is take your head off the pillow, never mind donning trainers and running or walking(believe me, I don't talk about it but I have been there.)Gentle exercise, for me just lifts my mood when i am feeling slightly low.

I have had a great day, food wise...following the PMK rules. It really does become easier doesn't it?I find I am making healthier food choices even though you can eat what you like, my body wants healthy stuff....well part from that biccie i had with a cup of tea (I NEVER eat biscuits, so I must have REALLY wanted it!)I am not sure if I can recognise when I am comfortably full yet, though.

i really should be in bed but oh is up watching some daft programe on the TV, so I will wait til he goes up and I can warm my feet on him.

Heres to a good day of Moving More and eating well tomorrow!
