Thinking of having my colours 'done'
      #298913 - 06/01/2009 18:26

Considering having my colours 'done' but wonder if this is just a gimmick. There seem to be two contenders in the field in relation to this - House of Colour and Colour Me Beautiful - both around the same price. I would appreciate any advice.

Hi Scotliz,

I had my colours done a few months ago by a Colour me Beautiful consultant.

There were some colours I already wear, some I would never have thought of. The good thing is they all go together but it is a gradual process to weed out my wardrobe.

I am glad I had them done, I know others on the forum have been "done" too. Go for it.

I had mine done free many years ago at a Colour Me Beautiful party - just had to buy any make-up I wanted. It was very good for colours for clothes.

I don't know the other company.

Go for it, its really good - I am a spring. I got told I could wear coral which was a colour I would have ran a mile from if I hadnt seen how good it was next to my skin.

I had mine done years ago. Now every time I wear the colours I should be wearing I usually get someone saying something along the lines of 'oh, that colour really suits you' which reminds me that I should revisit my little wallet!!

I agree with all the other ladies. I had my colours done by colour me beautiful a couple of years ago and it has made shopping so much easier as I instantly dismiss those colours that are not on my list. I was also told to wear colours that I would never have dared to wear before.
They also do a style service and they will suggest styles that suit you. I understand that you take with you some outfits and they will advise on what works for you or not.

Go for it Scotliz and enjoy the experience.

Margaret

I had my colours done by CMB several years ago and it was really good. There was a special offer in my local Laura Ashley and I went with a friend.

Is it expensive to have this done?

It costs around £85 but I daresay the investment is worth it if you wear colours which really suit you.

Saves a fortune in "mistakes". I had mine done by CMB many years ago and really do think it makes a difference.

I was thinking about having this done. As someone said, it's quite expensive but must save in the long run as no mistakes.
I "think" I know the colours that suit me but still some I'm not sure about, like grey or red.
My friends had it done and thought it was great but it's all very well knowing which colours to buy, but it's fnding them in the shops.
Let us know how it goes if you have it done.

CMB say that anyone can wear red it depends on the tone of your skin (pinkish or yellowish.) Those with a pink toned skin should wear blue toned reds and those with a yellowish tone should wear orange toned reds. I suppose the same applies to other colours too.

For instance I look good in Cyclamen and terrible in Brick. I have a pink toned skin and was classed as a Winter but the system has changed now. Their latest book is called "Colour me Younger" you can get it from Amazon.

I have always wondered do your ' colours ' alter as your hair colour changes, or if you dye your hair a different colour.
I had my colours done years ago when my hair was dark brown and was winter. Since then have gone greyer and have had so many different colours put on my hair on different occasions as I cannot decide what colour my hair should be and what suits me, am now really confused?

Asperagus, yes your colours do change with your hair colour. Trinny & Suzanne did a programme on it and showed the difference if they wore a wig.

I've made some enquiries locally this morning and I have been offered a session for £75 to £85 for an hour and a half which would cover colours and make-up. But, both consultants wanted my hair colour and age etc. So, as I have been known to change the colours in my hair, I wonder how the colours will work?? Anyway, I've decided to put this idea on hold for a little while until finances allow.
