JML clothes Dri Buddy - anyone tried one?
      #298365 - 06/01/2009 11:57

I saw this advertised by JML. It's a clothes drier but not like a tumble dryer. Yoy can hang about 18 items on it on hangers and it has a cover over it and a small heater which dries the clothes. You can set different heating times, and it's supposed to cost about 5p an hour to use, and clothes not so creased. It doesn't take up much room and can be folded away for storage.
It sounds perfect to me as we don't have a tumble dryer but just wondered if anyone had tried one?
I don't know how to do links but if you google the JML website you can see it, should you be interested!
It's about £58.71 direct from them but Macro have them on offer at the moment for about £40 plus VAT.

I bought one from the shopping channel on TV a couple of years ago. It was a spring loaded, nylon container which was so strongly sprung that it burst open and hit me in the mouth causing my gums to bleed. I attached the drier, which is pretty much a hair dryer, at the bottom of the container and then put in the hangers and my wet washing. I never finished the drying. It was noisy and took hours. Needless to say I sent it back.

Ooh, I don't like the sound of that Issi, sounds quite dangerous! I'm hoping JML's version is a bit better.
I'm still thinking about it!

That sounds like something I had in the 70s which was called a Flatley dryer. It was excellent.

Let us know if you buy one Bluebella. I do not know if the one I bought is like the JML version. I couldn't find it on the JML website but it is possible the one they have is a better version of the one I tried.

Issi, I just looked at JML website and the dri Buddy is on the "todays" page as you open it.
If not, it comes under "about the house."
I'd like to see one before I buy it so hopefully if I get to macro i can see one there.

Thanks Bluebella. I saw it on the JML website. It certainly looks like a better, more modern version of the one I purchased. It also says that it is "whisper quiet". Seems very good, but I would want to know exactly how long it takes to dry. Maybe if it is so quiet it does not matter too much.

Issi - I'm not sure how long it would take but the heater has a timer on with different settings.
I'm really tempted but would like to have heard someone say they have one first and it's great!
The info says it costs about 5p an hour to run, but I don't know how those figures are worked out, but must be cheaper than a tumble dryer.
I'm still thinking about it!
