Maybe times haven't changed?

A diy shop owner in Yorkshire decided both he and his staff deserved a day off on New years day i think it was so he left the shop open with a bucket and shoppers left over £800 in it.This story made me smile, this would never have happened where i used to live!

Basically people are honest, but it does seem the smaller the community, the more trusting people are and the more trustworthy they are in return. It's a bit more like stealing from someone you know, rather than stealing from an anonymous faceless corporation. (Which is obviously still not right).

I read this story in the paper and it thought it was lovely to read something heartwarming for a change instead of all the doom and gloom. The sort of story to restore your faith in human nature! As you say, it probably wouldn't happen in a lot of larger towns, although I do think that there are still a lot of honest people around.
