Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
I have used the treadmill in the past and had to spent 2 months with my knee in a compression bandage. I only walk, it's only for 20 minutes and it's not brisk enough to even warm me up!!
I have trainers, I put a tubigrip on my knee and wrapped up warm as the treadmill is in the garage where it's a bit cold admittedly.
Would using the incline facility help at all? After yesterday's efforts my calf muscles ached and still do!

You probably didn't warm up properly, Mrs T. Calves don't like it if you try and work the muscles while they are still cold.
A few gentle warm up exercises to get the blood pumping should soon put that right.
Keep going.

Ah! Good point MT, thank you! However, I'm only walking on the treadmill so I think I'm treating it as going for a walk rather than an exercise routine.
I've never warmed up my calfs before walking round the shops but my calfs are obviously more sensitive than I thought!
(Should they be calves I wonder)

Mrs T you have to do gentle warm up excercises, gently stretch the calf muscles out, and just as important you must do your cooling down exercises with the muscles as well....just do them gentle. If you don't do your warm up and cool down you will encounter muscle problems.
I would show you how, but a bit difficult on here...!!

Thank you Secret - we posted at the same time - even though I'm only walking I have to warm up?
I think the warm up would be more exercising than the walking!
I'll try warming up first, thanks!

Not sure if it is calfs or calves but I like the way Secret says calf muscles to avoid the problem

spend the money for a consulatation with a sports therapist/fitness instructor and they will give you the addvice you need specific to the problem you have. Its worth it and shouldn't cost you more than £30
