DAY 278 - IT'S A NEW DAWN, IT'S A NEW DAY .....
      #294092 - 02/01/2009 07:53

... it's a new life (or at least a slimmer one) for me (and you).

Happy New Year everyone. It's freezing here and still dark outside as the sky is so grey. I've been up for ages trying to catch up on the forum, but I'm going back to bed soon for a warm.

I've had a lovely Christmas and a great start to the new year (socially), now it's time to get back to my healthy eating plan. Low GI soup for lunch, and a bit of exercise on the Wii. What are your plans for the day?

Hi Sella,
You beat me to it, I've logged on to post the "thought for the day" and you'd already done it.
I've been thinking that this week I will make an effort to eat healthily.Going back to the basics of making sure that I have at least 5 portions of fruit and veg each day and 3 servings of oily fish during the week and starting the day with a bowl of porridge.I'm making vegetable broth for lunch and I'm now going to exercise to Paddy and Max's DvD.I've already listened to 2 PMK tapes, how's that for motivation?
I've decided that I will listen to PMK at least every other day this week and do an exercise video each day.Can you feel the desperation creeping in after nearly 3 weeks holidays?
One thing that really got to me in Florida was, that contrary to most peoples' perceptions of Americans, they all seemed slim or super slim. That'll teach me to stay away from the haunts of the beautiful people, perhaps I should have gone to Orlando instead of Miami and the East coast?

Good morning Sella and Dec

Dec your holiday sounds fabulous!!

I'm ready for the new year and putting lots of effort into PMK. OH bought me a personal CD player at Xmas so I can finally start to listen to the CD. I'm going to try for a proper weight loss this year. There is nothing to stop me losing at least a stone - so that's what I'm going to do.

My company is relocating so I will have to travel by train each day which means 1) I have to walk to the station every day and 2) I have to plan my meals in advance.

I have no excuses now.

I am also going to plan heathly lunches for when i return to work, and make time for breakfast.

So theres no stopping me now, and i when i start to flag, and have a relaspe i know you are all here to get me back on track.

Just joined the forum and already stuck! What is PMK?
I have quite a lot to lose and need to take it fairly gently as I have just finished chemo and start on radiotherapy next week - but I'm fed up of feeling like a blob. If I don't make a start it will only get worse!
So roll-on the new year. 2009 will be better

Hi All, and welcome Margaret H. Help! I am scared of the weigh in om Monday and am having a terrible time in the supermarket getting past all the half price lindt reindeer and santas. Trying hard to remember they are not a bargain and I will not feel happy for more than two mins after a binge. No point in trying to pmk them either, I know if I start wont be able to stop, so having a small bite of antler or santas feet (thats where the chocolate is lovely and thick)and stopping is not an option.

Me again! I've been hot and sweaty with Paddy and Max but I'm now showered and ready to go shopping.I've just popped in for a catch up.
Welcome Margaret, glad you've found the Forum, you'll find it a great help in all sorts of ways.
Anne just think of the money you are saving by not buying those chocolate "bargains"
Patsy ,the extra walk to the station will be so good for you.
B.Queen you will make a big difference with all those little steps.
Twinkle, remember the dress you've just bought and be strong.
S.Lady ,most of us will be finding it difficult to get back on track but we will manage it and finally I'm quite sure I've put weight on over the holidays so I'm dreading the weigh in too.I bet Sella Vee is going to be the star again but c'est la vie,Sella Vie.I think millionaires' bits must be less fattening than those enjoyed by the rest of us lesser mortals.Let us know the answer Sella!!

Welcome back, dec. Sorry I beat you to it. You can go first tomorrow! You're making a great start to the New Year with your healthy eating and exercise plans. Obviously your cruise was too upmarket if it had thin Americans on it.

Patsy, I'm liking your positive thinking.

BQ, if you lose a pound a fortnight you'll be almost two stone lighter next Christmas. Little steps work.

Welcome MargaretH. If you look back at the weight loss posts that start DAY 277, DAY 276 you'll get the idea. We're all following the book and CD "I can make you Thin".

Twinkle, of course you will keep up the good work. This time next year you will be all sparkly AND slender!

SL, concentrate on how much you have lost since we started. You can lose even more this year.

Anne18, you are not the only one dreading the weight in. I've been baking, drinking and nibbling with the neighbours (I say nibbling, shovelling would perhaps be a more apt description!), and couch potatoing on the sofa. My weigh in result will be what I deserve, and I doubt it'll be a gold star, dec! However, I am still loads lighter than I was this time last year. I've had no millionaire's shortbread at all this Festive Season, just Pringles, McCoys, pistachios, cashews, peanuts, sausage rolls, snowflecked brownies, rocky road, cranberry and white chocolate cookies, cherry cake, chocolate cake and some sweeties. And that's just breakfast!! (Only kidding).

I'm working on the 80/20 rule. I've been very naughty for 10 days, so I will have to be very noble for the next forty!

Did you know, it's very hard to type with your fingers crossed behind your back ?

Ok girls you have done it as always, risk of santas and reindeer now gone. Thank you. Also it is good to know I will have company Sella_Vee as I stare at the scales on Monday morning and dare them to tell the truth. I am clearing up today, so will put all goodies away out of sight - they have been hovering in cake tins on the work surface with boxes of chocs on the coffee table etc. I am wondering about geting some detox tea for Monday, just to get rid of toxins and extra fluid. Anybody got any suggestions for what works well and tastes reasonable?

Good afternoon Sella-Vee, dec, Patsy W, BrandyQ, anne18, Twinks and SL and hello and a big welcome to MargaretH. Thanks for posting Sella and starting us all off on the right track at the beginning of the year.

Remember our mantra "Flabulous Forever" and repeat it to yourself when you are tempted by the second or third yummy Christmas something!

I've been busy today. Mr F. went back to work, so I was up early, washing in machine and then off to exercise class followed by a yoga class. Light lunch and then Foxie Jr and I began sorting out his bedroom. Does anyone remember the story of the Aegean stables?? well Foxie Jr's bedroom ran a very close second. We took five bags (yes FIVE!!!) to the local clothes recycling bin. I've washed his bedding and we vacuumed and dusted. His room looks wonderful now. I just wish the rest of the house matched!!

Just taking a break with a cup of tea to catch up with the forum (especially FF) before I tackle the ironing and cooking something special for Mr F's tea.

anne18 - next time you are tempted to munch on reindeer's feet, remember you will have to 'fess up to the forum!

Wishing all of you the very best for 2009. Please everyone keep posting, I love reading all the posts and really appreciate all the advice and support given.
Foxie x.

Its also steak pie dinner, traditional in Scotland for New Years day but OH was working so we are having it tonight. I will only have a tiny bit of crust

Sella, I wasn't on a cruise and I'm not joking the slender Americans were walking the streets of Miami,Key West and Punta Gorda.
I've had a horrible thought that perhaps they all looked so thin because I'm bigger than I think I am!!
Also the portions served in the restaurants were smaller than here, perhaps they've all adopted PMK's rules? The prices were quite high too.We paid the equivalent of £10 for a take away sandwich in Miami it would have been £2 in my local Bakery.Perhaps they can't afford to eat any more, that would solve our problems too.Lol

Hi anne18, we're having steak pie dinner tonight too! We had such a good party on Hogmanay that I was in no fit state to make it yesterday, and we'd been invited in to one set of neighbours at lunchtime and another set at tea time.

Alex, I'm glad you're feeling positive too.

Foxie, isn't it a great feeling when you give a room a good "bottoming"? The only reason my downstairs looks tidy is because I've thrown everything into our bedroom. It looks like an explosion in a jumble sale. That's another task for Monday.

dec, I blame Don Johnson and that other fellow from Miami Vice!

Twinkle, I've been for a walk on the beach wih OH, MS and DIL. Once MS and DIL have gone home on Sunday I'll get back to normal. I'm planning to send them home with all my tempting food.

How's this for a confession? OH bought some chocolate croissnts for breakfast this morning and after I'd had mine, I had a white chocolate and cranberry cookie because they are made with oats so it was practically porridge!
