Christmas Books
      #288803 - 26/12/2008 09:51

Belated Happy Christmas to all you readers. So what books did Santa bring you this year ? I have to confess a weakness for celebrity biographies at this time of year since they are generally light, easy reading and I love looking at all the photos. I've just started reading 'Dear Fatty' by Dawn French which was on my Christmas wishlist and DH also bought me Len Goodman's book since I'm a huge 'Strictly' fan.

Good morning Snoopy56. I got the Julie Waters book, new Richard Branson book (I think he is great with what he has achieved) and also the Twiggy book "Guide to looking and feeling Fabulous over 40". Do you think OH is telling me something with this last one? N o he isn't it is just that I use to go to Junior School with Twiggy and even went to see her on "This is your life" with other school friends, so he knows I would love to have this.

Have started reading it and actually there are some great tips in there so far. Watch out girls I will be looking good in 2009!!! Yeah right...........after all you cannot improve on perfection..........

hehehehehehehehe

Good Morning Snoopy56 and Thimble,

I also love to receive autobiographies at Christmas, so was thrilled to receive Julie Walters, I have read half already, really witty, and interesting, the second one I have received was Michael Parkinsons, really interesting also, but havent even thought of reading this one yet.

Another really funny book that I was lucky enough to receive is called "Wendy," and it is by Jenny Eclair, I think you should all try and get this book especially if you are "of a certain age" it is so funny and apt. I have only glanced through it and couldnt stop laughing.

Plasmo x

Hi Plasmo........ you have tempted me. I think the Julie Walters book will be my next one. OH is now going back to bed feelng and looking like death and doesn't want anything to eat. Son not up yet as also has lurgy but when he does he is in his own room all day as he smokes and we don't. So looks like I will be enjoying my own company again. So a nice quiet time to just sit and read with no interruptions and pop in and out of the forum as and when I want..............bliss

Hi Thimble,

Hope you enjoy some quiet time and get to read your books. I didnt realise JWs was a nurse prior to becoming an actress, I find her so funny.

I got both the books on my wish list but neither was a biography. The Thrifty Gardener by Alys Fowler and JK Rowling's Tale of Beedle the Bard - I know, it's a children's book but what the heck...
