Who can suggest a couple of really nice wines, both white and red to go with Christmas dinner?

Well lovelylady, my fave white wines (to go with anything!) are Chablis and Oyster Bay (on special in Sainsburys at the mo).
Red, we have chateaneuf du pape and a Shiraz ready to be opened on Christmas day.

We are also going to have Chablis with the goose and turkey, and red we have a nice Shiraz, and some Rioja's.

Champagne! on special offer in most places, and it is Xmas, but it all depends on how many, and how much they drink. Prosecco is a good alternative , in fact I prefer it. But ask Beba before buying, she is the expert. Well she is Italian! Ideal with nibbles before lunch!
I love Italian wine, so would be happy with a Pinot Grigio as a white wine. Or a Sicilian white. Tesco do a gorgeous one. Red wine, my favourite is Montepulciano (£2.88 in Lidl), or Bardolino. I know I sound like a cheapskate but it is the best value for price and taste.
I know Aussie wines are popular, but I find them too heavy, especially the Chardonnays.
If I want to be a bit more extravagant, then it would be Sancerre, but that has sentimental value so I don't drink it at Xmas.
Hardy's do a Nottage Hill red dessert wine which is heaven. But 17.5%, so small glasses only, but perfect with pudding and cheese. Doesn't need to be chilled either. We used to have Beaumes de Venise at Xmas, but this is better, so much better I have had to hide it!

Another vote for Chablis and Shiraz!
However, I recently discovered from my rugby trip to Perpignan a lovely French wine - Muscat Sec.
I've always avoided it as I thought it would be too sweet, the muscat grape is very heady, but as a Sec it's simply gorgeous. Very florally and just spilling over with fruitiness. Oooooh! Try it!

Moet and Chandon champagne to start (reduced price at Sainsbury's last week), and Fleurie from M&S for the main course (£7.99 and in a screw top bottle). I like red wine but try to avoid anything over 13% proof.
