Does anyone else hate this as much as me................that is until someone told me a good idea for cleaning all those metal shelves and the glass door.
Put said shelves and glass in bath and fill with hot water (obviously making sure plug in!!) whilst filling empty a scoop of washing powder (or whatever you would use for a large load of washing) into it. I do this last thing at night.
Then in morning take a nonscratch scourer and hey presto it just comes away - no matter how ground in. Instead of hours standing scrubbing away - takes about max 30 mins. Now I don't find it so much of a chore.
HOWEVER.....................does anyone have an answer for cleaning the powder tray on washing machines!!!! Mine is a disgrace. I have tried soaking, bleachine but nothing seems to get it clean. Don't tell me you all clean it everyday!!!!!!!!

Hi Thimble,
I dont have to worry about cleaning my oven as MOH always does it for me, its another chore that I really hate, even though the inside of our oven is supposed to be self cleaning!!!
As for the washing machine powder container, yes, I do clean mine when ever I use it, and I use bicarbonate of soda, just mix a little with water, and it comes up brilliantly.
I would like a miracle cleaner for cleaning my mirrors, no matter what product I buy I still get streaks, I have tried the newspaper method, but am not happy with how mine turn out any ideas.
Im sounding like a Twiddler arent I? and I assure you Im not.

Thanks...........will try the bicarbonate of soda. Can you send MOH over...................
As for windows I use plain warm water, wipe dry with cloth and then use the special "Scrunch" cloth from lakeland seems to work brilliantly.
Well we all have to twiddle otherwise we would live with dirt up to our ears................ it makes it a lot easier though when you mix it with a LOT of minxing........

I get a company in twice a year........... easy! Re washing machine tray take it out and put it in dishwasher and re windows, mirrors in fact all cleaning. I always use e cloths and a water spray now = effective and cheap. I recommend these to everyone, I should be on commission!!

I use bicarb too Plasmo. What about the walls of the oven then? You've reminded me I really need to do this job before Christmas. It's level-pegging with ironing for the worst chore!

the walls of my oven are self cleaning so I just switch oven on to hot and then given them a wipe over. I don't think you ever get them clean.
Beachbabe it really works..........I was sceptical at first but was soon won over.
I am going to get some bicarb this week and try it on the washing machine power tray. Thanks Plasmo

My SIL recently came over to clean my Dad's oven, before she came she phoned and asked my Dad to turn his oven on full for at least an hour. SIL arrived 45 mins later at 9.15,she then removed shelves, applied cleaner and left to soak outside, then she set to,to clean the oven. Once done, she then cleaned off the shelves and replaced everything. From arrival to Dads to then making coffee and job done, one and a half hours.
I think Mrs Twiddle would have been proud of her.

Re Washing machine drwaers......I never use mine......I have one of those plastic 'bubble' thingies that used to come with the powder. I put the powder(or liquid) in there straight into the drum......no mess at all!! Will try the soaking method with washing powder for the oven.....must do it tomorrow!! Also need to de-frost freezer! Should have done it weeks ago!

I absolutely HATE cleaning the oven which is why I rarely use it.
I've got a Microwave and oven combined which is so much easier to clean.
