Ladies
There has in the past been some interest in a book club in the Bexley/Bromley/Greenwich/Blackheath area.
If any one is still interested, let me know and maybe we can arrange a meet for next month. If you have any ideas for the first read, let me know and we could do a lucky dip for the first book and then take turns to choose future reads.
I don't think we need anything heavy, just a glass of wine or a coffee and a chat about books (and probably other stuff too). I am happy to organise the book club but because of work I am resticted to evenings (not the last Wednesday of the month though as that clashes with the Hall Place supper club)and weekends. Suggestions of where to meet would also be welcome.

We could meet at mine. I'm based in Grove Park and have a large conservatory with a table that can sit six or so plus a sofa and chair in there, too. What do you think? Parking in the evenings is free and there's space. xxxSuexxx

Hi Sue
Thanks for the offer, it sounds fine to me, I can also host an evening, but only have a small flat, so it would be very cosy! When we get going maybe we can take turns in hosting? Hopefully we can get a book club off the ground this time.
Have a good day

Ladies
It seems to be the three of us at the moment, As there is so few I'm happy to host the first one if it's easier (small flat, so won't be able to when there are lots of us).
Would weekday evening suit you best or would you prefer weekends?
Let me know and in the mean time I'll have a look at what's in the book charts and make a few suggestions for a first read.

Hi Ladies we have a book club!!!!
WE have decided that our first meeting will be 14 Janurary 2009 at 8pm. Susan_Scripture has kindly agreed to host the first meeting, please PM her for details of her address etc.
The firs bok to be discussed is..............
NO TIME FOR GOODBYE by Linwood Barclay, I have taken the synopsis and reviews from the Waterstones website
Synopsis On the morning she will never forget, suburban teenager Cynthia Archer awakes with a nasty hangover and a feeling she is going to have an even nastier confrontation with her mom and dad. But when she leaves her bedroom, she discovers the house is empty, with no sign of her parents or younger brother Todd. In the blink of an eye, without any explanation, her family has simply disappeared. Twenty-five years later Cynthia is still haunted by unanswered questions. Were her family murdered? If so, why was she spared? And if they're alive, why did they abandon her in such a cruel way? Now married with a daughter of her own, Cynthia fears that her new family will be taken from her just as her first one was. And so she agrees to take part in a TV documentary revisiting the case, in the hope that somebody somewhere will remember something - or even that her father, mother or brother might finally reach out to her...Then a letter arrives which makes no sense and yet chills Cynthia to the core. And soon she begins to realise that stirring up the past could be the worst mistake she has ever made...
Bookseller review Wendy Dack, WATERSTONE'S THANET Excellent and in the words of Lord Melchett, it twists and turns like a twisty-turny thing. It reads like a movie and I just couldn't be parted from it until I'd read to the last page.
Cusstomer review Sara Noor An amazing turn pager, definitely worth reading
