i am considering getting brown leather sofa and chair and another chair in a cream fabric. What colour curtains do you think would go -cream?

Go for a contrast - deep red or petrol blue would be nice. Or maybe a lime green if you are brave

Then and touches of the same colour in cushions, maybe a glass bowl, or vases, or candles

I've got a brown leather sofa and cream chair with deep red as a contrast. My curtains are cream, but only because they were here when I bought the house, and I'm too lazy to change them

I`m no help as I have white wooden blinds from Ikea in the living room.
I would suggest looking at a John Lewis or Marks and Spencer catalogue for inspiration.

Try going for texture too - nubbly cotton, silky or perhaps a toile - Laura Ashley have some fantastic curtain fabrics at the moment, along with beautiful scatter cushions. Teal and aubergine seem to be the colour of the moment, along with a fresh mint green... look lovely on leather sofas.

Make sure you get a good deal on your sofa - they will bite your hand off at the moment and most of the good furniture stores will price match and bearing in mind that most sofas are made by pretty much the same group of manufacturers, just marketed under different names by the stores.. even M&S and JLP.

I have brown leather suite and have deep red accessories in the room. My curtains are voile drapes and I have brown cream and deep red all next to each other. I think they look lovely, add a bit of colour and bring all room together really well.

Went to John Lewis at the weekend. They had a brown leather sofa and a cream leather chair. They had chosen some cream curtains but they had big lime green patterns on them.
A few scattered cushions in lime green or a dish on the table in that colour.
They looked good together.

Hello Madame Decoratrice :-)
Creme shades combined with brown looks always harmonious and calm, you can't go wrong with that. If you choose a brown leather I'd opt for a soft fabric to bring in warmth and texture; for example a nice smooth velvet or if you prefere a lighter looking choice an interlined chic silk curtain puddled on the floor gives a relaxed but glamorous style**
If the windows are relatively high I love the king pleated headings, it looks nobler than normal pencil pleated headings** Yes, and a nice curtain track or pole would give also the special something! There are so many wonderful solutions out there! Dear lady, let us know the outcome or if you need more advice you can send me a message, no problem ;-)
Have a creative and happy day** Best wishes**

My sofa is cream leather, I have dark red and dark red flowered cushions on it. Since I posted last on this I've ordered a chair to go with it - now for the curtains!

Psyche everyone is different, me my suite is cream leather, the walls and carpet are self coloured, the colour is in the curtians, which is duck egg blue and hot chocolate....

when growing up my mother always said, if the wallpaper is patterned then carpet, sutie and curtains should be plain....

for example our next door neighbourgh re did her lounge...... all in coffee and cream and brown and rust....only thing is it was all the same tones but all patterened......... what a shame as she spent an arm and a leg on it. but because carpet, curtains, suite and walls were all patterened......it totally wasted the look.......

think carefully with regards your curtains, it is easy and reasonably cheap to change cushions and walls....

if everything was plain I would go for the red... if you can have tab tops , then red/cream.....

your room sounds lovely

Yes they will be red probably with an "interesting" texture if I can find such a thing.. The walls are "Antique Cream" which is really a light biscuit colour.
