Split forums into smaller ones?
      #67344 - 01/03/2008 16:37

Was just wondering if the forums could be spilt up further - for example the 'Your Lives' one, which seems by far the most popular, appears to encompasses all kinds of diverse topics, and it would make sense to split this up further - eg. Holiday info, Jokes, Relationships etc. Might make it easier to find things if you were looking for a particular subject.

I agree that it's getting increasingly difficult to navigate the website. When I joined last summer, there were maybe 25 active topics, now over 100 and I keep forgetting which ones I want to follow. I don't log on every day and, after a few days, they've often disappeared into the ether!

I wouldn't want it too prescriptive however as, very often, it's the posts that you stumble acrosss that are the most interesting.

It's even hard to find my supper/lunch club posts - these should be alphabetical and always start with name of place, for example.

It's probably time to redesign the website to make it more accessible.

J x

Good idea. Lately the forum seems to be defaulting to just a mass of indiscriminate topics that are not even highlighted. It would be far better to be further divided up into topics. I also agree that the supperclubs/walking clubs should have an alphabetically format as it would be far easier to find things happening in your own locality.

I know what you mean about finding items. I click on the search tab at the top and just key in a word. I am a member of the Fareham/Portsmouth supper club so if I want to see any more recent postings I click on search, enter Fareham Portsmouth and click on the item at the bottom which asks it to search in date order. This automatically brings up anything posted in the last month. Any further back and you can select the dates in the search area.
Hope this helps you all navigate better! Helen

Re the problems in finding the Supper Clubs, I have offered to put these in to alphabetical order, if each group will PM me with the details of who to contact, area covered, etc. Although I've posted this a couple of times, I've only received 5 replies! I'll try again and hope for a better response - can't do it if I don't have the info, but I'm willing!

Can we split the supper clubs into regions like the midlands or even counties. It would make it much easier to find the ones near us.
The problem with alphabetical order is that unless you look for all the towns nearby you might miss some interesting posts. It isn't always obvious what to search for.
It seems a shame that we are missing items because of the way the forum is structured.
