Missing WOOLWORTHS What was the last thing U brought there?
      #503045 - 08/11/2009 12:28

I don't know about you but especially this time of year I am missing my local

WOOLWORTHS

I recently was clearing out my old till receipts for this year and came across my last ever one from good old WOOLIES and when nearly all that was left to buy was either left over bits and bobs or a book of first class stamps.

Cant remember dbv as I know when I went in during the last few days there was nothing but tat left. My boss did get lots of little tubs of playdoh for gifts for our pupils and bottles of bubbles.

I really miss Woollies - it was such a great store for wandering around and discovering things you didn't realise you wanted/needed, and they were nice and cheap!

So far as I can see, no one has taken over the empty stores - ours is still all boarded up. Such a waste of great retail sites.

Julie.

I miss Woolworths too.

My memories of Woolworths are linked to my childhood.
I would visit every week with my mother where I would
be allowed to choose 2oz of sweets. I will never forget
the day the shop assistant told my mother that they
no longer sold sweets in 2oz quantities - I was so
pleased because I could now choose a quarter!!!

Our Woolies is now "Proper Job"...a DIY store.

The last thing I bought was a computer game for my son and a tub of Pick and Mix...for me!!

As a teenager I would buy all my Miners make-up there and tights.
