When you were a teenager, did you lie in?
      #502951 - 08/11/2009 00:34

I have to admit I did, but now I can't seem to. I set my alarm clock for a lie in and wake up early so end up getting out of bed before I planned to. I always seem to feel that I am wasting my life if I stay in bed these days. Gone are the days of staying in bed until lunchtime.

Were you a lazy teenager? Do you like a lie in these days?

Caz, I love the picture. He's so cute!!

Yes, as a teenager, I hated getting up in the morning, I could have slept in all day if I'd been allowed too. I think it was just a phase, though, I don't remember it going on for very long.

I rarely sleep more than 4 or 5 hours a night now, that seems to be all I need.

No, I was never allowed to!

But I have turned into a teenager at 50 and almost divorced and love a lie-in!

No, I don't remember doing so. Probably because we were in the habit of waking early.

At boarding school we had chores to do - strip the beds, fold up the bedside mats and take them outside for a shake when told to, dust the dressing tables, bedrails, skirting boards, sweep the rooms, re-lay the mats. Occupants of''one room on each corridor had to sweep the corridor as well.

All this was in between managing a wash or bath and getting dressed, The windows were opened before going to breakfast and the beds were made again after breakfast. Then it was time to get books ready and go the lessons.

On Saturday I think we got 0.5hr lie-in before doing all the same chores but of course it was 'prep' instead of school. And on Sundays it was Church.

At home, we may have got up early but we didn't do the chores!

I used to lie in at the weekends when there was nothing in particular to get up for. Sometimes until lunch time! Used to irritate my mother no end. Mind you I think she should have been thankful as that was about as far as my teenage behaviour went!

Nowadays I like a lie in but set my alarm for just a couple of hours later than normal weekday time as I hate getting up really late and feeling that I have actually wasted the morning. However if I have actually slept the extra hours I know it's because I needed to.
