I just finished watching the Festival of Rememberence on BBC1 and I cried buckets. So many brave young men and women with such sad stories to tell. Even my husband had a tear in his eyes. Was anyone else touched by it all ?

Yes, I also watched the service/programme and found it very moving. It seems so much more poignant to me now as I'm in my mid-fifties and both my deceased parents who originated from Jamaica served in WWII. Also, the anniversaries of their deaths both fall during this week. Now that so many young soldiers are being killed in foreign conflicts and leaving you widows and children behind, there is, in my opinion, even greater reason to observe Rememberance Sunday. Having said this, I choose not to wear a poppy but I always put a donation in the tin. I do not think that people should be told to wear one. I cannot believe that all the people currently appearing on TV would wear one. I don't think they are given the choice and I think that this is wrong.
