WE SHALL REMEMBER THEM
      #502885 - 07/11/2009 21:42

With all the talk about X-Factor tonight, thought it would be nice to mention real talent, with real meaning.

Our service men and women are doing their annual show on BBC1 now at the Royal Albert Hall (i think) as part of Rembrance Sunday tomorrow - their displays of band drills, music and singing is outstanding - they should all be so proud of themselves.

And thats not their real profession.

I'm so proud to be British watching this concert and want to say Im thinking of all families at the moment that have family currently serving in our Forces, as well as those who have done so in the past.

I'm watching.

I can feel the tears at the very first bar of music.

My dad was an old soldier, and I am so proud of what he did.

And just watching them applaud Vera Lynn - she gve them so much inspiration

Sang it last year and eldest GD (then 3) wanted to march like all the men....will have to see if she wants to do it again tomorrow.

I'm watching it - was always made to watch it when I was growing up whether I wanted to or not. Feels especially poignant this year x

I'm watching too, often have tears running down my face. I feel its something that we should encourage our youngsters to watch, not compulsary but its a thing that I used to sit and watch with my parents and its always stayed with me.

I worked with the Army for 13 years before i retired and it is even more important to me now to honour all those brave souls who lost their lives and were badly injured serving their country.

Depends on the weather, and various other factors

If it's dry, we will be going to the park for 11.00 for the Silence and to watch the wreaths being laid.

Then to the local pub for a coffee, sandwiches and a wartime singalone. All my favourite songs.

If it's raining, then we might watch it at home.

Hi Rungirl and Issi

I too always had to watch it when I was younger, but now Im glad I did - think all children should watch and understand what it all means and why we do it. Think this is sadly lacking in education at schools..........all well and good learning about the tudors, elizabethans etc...... need real history of our World Wars (but pehaps they do teach that nowadays?)

Feel very sad for the families who have lost family in the most recent fighting in Afganistan,Iraq, etc.

I can't help feeling that this year it is as much about remembering our current war dead as those who served in previous wars. It's very hard to watch these young heroes with terrible injuries and the war widows.

Good Morning Amelica and Everyone.

Unfortunately we missed the service last night, but will definitely be watching the service at the Cenotaph this morning.

WW1, WW2, The Korean War, The Falklands, the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars, and any other conflicts, all evoke memories of all the young men and women who served their country, so that the world we live in might be a safer and a better place.

A time for everyone, regardless what their views are on war, to reflect and basically, just remember them all.

Plasmo x

They shall not grow old as we who are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them. Lest we forget.

When you go home tell them of us and say, "for your tomorrows we gave our today". Always makes me cry.
