Lillie,

I make my own mincemeat, its ever so easy! But I warn you, once you start making it yourself, you cannot ever use bougt mincemeat again!

and then make them into mince pies using this recipe

but this one sounds rather interesting too!

Thank you Vinca, I really need that recipe.
I am so excited about making my own , I'll make the mincemeat this coming week and the mince pies when we return from USA/UK, my Uk friends here in Italy will love them (I hope they turn out OK)

Hi Limoncello,

I hope you enjoy making the mincemeat - I've been making mine for about 15 years and can't use bought mincemeat now. The difference is amazing. I'm sure your Italian friends will like your mince pies.

Both of these recipes are foolproof. I made a batch for OH to take into work when we lived in Norway. The Norwegians loved them, and I ended up with a virtual assembly line in my kitchen for weeks thereafter! The house smelled divine, but I did get a bit fed up in the end....

I love homemade mince pies - there's absolutely no competition between home made and shop bought. Shop ones always taste so synthetic to me.
