created a facebook account yonks ago, under duress, but never use it.

Now I have been "persuaded" to use it, and find i have have loads of people who want to be my friend. Aaaaw.

But I don't recognise some of the names.

So, if you have requesated me as a friend on Facebook, please PM me as well. I don;t mind being friends with forum members...but strangers....

Wispa, if you look at the women and home forum members group on Facebook (which is a closed group), you can see who we are.

yep I'm on that one and have a few forum friends as fb friends. Nice way of putting face to postings if you want to do that.

The facebook w&h account was created so we could identify our forum friends on facebook. There were quite a few of us who only knew each other by our "forum names" so it was set up by one of the forummers to eliminate confusion. The reference to closed means its not open to anyone outside the w&h group.
You are very welcome to join us.......there are are number of us who belong to several sites.

I joined Facebook under another name to check up on someone. I was immediately bombarded by people wanting to be my "friend" and sent a load of details of strangers saying "why not make them your friends?"
So I'm not on it. and I don't have an interesting life! I don't have children/grandchildren etc in far flung places who need to send me photos. I have email and thats fine with me. I appreciate that others have different agendas but i'm not going on Facebook or Twitter or anywhere.

(I was listening to Radio 4 theother day where someone was saying that anything we say on the internet is kept for ever!)

I have to confess I dont have a clue what facebook is all about and would not know where to start on it .... does it not expose you to lots of weird people who can get info on you... my aunt said she was cloned on it and had all sorts of issues with identity , credit and bank accounts etc. ?,
Please advise .. many many thanks.

Scarpantoni, I use Facebook all the time, you can control who sees your profile, so if someone who you don't know asks to be your friend then you can decline. Also apart from my name other info is not on it, is not accurate e.g date of birth. I am also cautions about what I say on it, just as a precaution although I of course I do trust my friends.

Just never got on with facebook, I never settled with the layout. Apologies if anyone has sent a request to be a friend, but if Idon't recognise the name then i don't add and I only go there about every 2 months anyway!

I've just gone on Facebook so my children could look at our holiday pics rather than sending by email. Not sure I really have got my head round it, daughter says perserve! dont really want people to contact me and I dont want to know whats going on in my kids lives!......I have put on all the controls so not really worried about it, like MrsSmith just dont have an interesting life, much rather be on the forum....

I joined Facebook recently, how do you access the
w&h forum members group? only just finding my way
round it, joined because a lot of my friends from work
were on it and as we were all made redundant its a
good way to keep in touch.
