Do you have an alarm clock?
      #500206 - 04/11/2009 00:25

or do you wake up naturally? I set my alarm for a certain time, but always seem to wake before the alarm actually goes off. Do you wake up to an alarm clock or just wake up as and when?

I do, but I only set it if I have to get up for an early doctor's appointment or something. Because I work from home I don't actually have to get up at a set time, but I 'm usually awake just after 7.00 anyway.

The alarm is set every week day, just in case we oversleep. 99% of the time I am awake before the alarm goes off, but there is that 1% when the alarm is needed. I much prefer to wake naturally, I hate being summoned back to the world by a shrill alarm.

I have never used an alarm clock! Just wake up naturally between 5 and 6am

I have a lovely daylight clock that recreates the sunrise and gradually wakes me up, except when OH has banged around enough to wake the dead anyway. It also works in reverse and gets darker and darker till I fall asleep. There is a beeper as back-up for workdays, but I don't usually need it.

Yes, I'm usually awake at least an hour before the alarm is due and just getting back to sleep when it goes off. Without it I'd never get out of bed in the week. The last two weeks have been desparate - I take a while to get used to the clocks changing so rather than waking at 5am (alarm at 6) I've been waking around 4! Not fun... If you see me nodding off during the day prod me please!

We have one similar to the one that Adiboo has. A light comes on really gradually and you usually waken before it goes off. I bought it when my OH used to get up about 5-00 am and he felt he was much better being wakened naturally.

I used to have an alarm when I worked always went off at 6.15am but since leaving work 2 1/2 years ago I never use it but still wake up more or less the same time, so maybe I didn't need it or maybe I am now conditioned who knows. The good thing is now when I wake up at 6.15am I can actually choose to stay in bed.

My husband is my alarm clock-don't need one often anyway but have you seen the latest alarm clock? It's a model helicopter that sounds the alarm and takes off round the room and you have to get out of bed and chase round the room after it to stop the alarm! Can imagine my daughter throwing something at it though!

My radio comes on at 5.57 every morning just in time for the news...

My cat wakes me up at 5.30!

So I have two alarms!!

We do have an alarm clock which is kept in the spare bedroom and only used if we have to be up a silly o'clock for going on holidays etc. Now I am fully retired and OH retires next month I guess we don't need them nowadays. Oh the luxury of no ringing bells!

Yes, clock radio set for 5.58 for news and then sarah kennedy but alas I am always awake and sometimes out of bed long before then. Hope it will be a different matter as soon as OH retires

yes and it's a hateful thing. It's set to go off at 6.45 but I'm usually awake before then and switch it off. Occasionally I don't wake up and the alarm wakes me.....absolutely hate it!!!!

I use my mobile phone and have all 3 alarms set on it so I can snooze. If my OH is away I have his alarm set as well just incase as I am a terrible one for turning off alarms and going back to sleep.
