Grout cleaner
      #495148 - 28/10/2009 10:30

I would just like to share a product I have just tried from Bettaware. We had two new showers installed a couple of years ago and have noticed that shampoos and shower gels have been turning the grout a light yellow/orange colour. I even changed the shampoo/shower gels to whatever I could find in a clear substance but did not make much difference. I have scrubbed them with a nail brush and usual shower cleaners, but it never quite gets them white. I bought grout cleaner from Bettaware and used it last night for the first time. WOW, left it on for 5-10 mins, used a soft brush and my grout is now WHITE. The £5.99 price that I thought was a little expensive is well worth the money.

Got the same problem. Real nuisance. Pity we haven't got a Betterware rep around here in the sticks.

When I was a very small girl my Dad was a betterware rep going from door to door with a suitcase of goods for sale. It was his main income - nowadays I think its more a 2nd job.

I can remember lots of mums and little girls coming to the door to buy hair ribbons.

I used to get the same problem and got HG mould spray from Kleeneze which worked a treat. Dont like using chemicals though so now after everyshower I have i give the shower a wipe down with a sponge and a quick spray with fresh water. Seems to keep the mould at bay even though others are using shower too and not doing my routine.

Sometimes the discolouration is caused by limescale building up and then staining. It's worth using Viakal spray to get rid of it. I've always lived in hard water areas and swear by it. Can't stand water marks on everything. It's great for vases, too

I get a pink sediment in my shower (Severn Trent assure me my water is ok but they would do). I keep old electric toothbrush heads (mark with nailvarnish so you don't accidentally forget) and use the electric toothbrush to clean the grout etc

I use Astonish mould cleaner spray great value at 1 pound. I just spray it over the grout and leave for about 20min then rinse. Also diluted bleach using same method is v gd
