Hi there and welcome to forum - don't think I have chatted with you before. I saw the other post about your daughter and the hair loss may be due to stress. I know that can happen with stress to a lot of people. I hope the situation with your daughter gets sorted and that might help. I think you can also send off a sample of hair to a tricologist if you wanted to google that. Good Luck. Hope some other ladies can help out with suggestions as this is the only one I could think off.

Hi Anne,
You should go and see either you GP or practice nurse.
My daughters came out when she was 15, it's stillnot back, it comes in so far and then comes back out again....theyy said at the hospital it was her immune system attakcing its self, and it would evenutally correct its self...
I do believe it is stress related, because during the summer when she is not a college, it comes in very well.....
Go see them, the might be able to help, you never know...it could also be a hormone imbalance ( given your age0 hate ot mention that.......lol

cheers for that (lol) !! but you are probably right about the age thing... hot flushes and the rest.
Life has been stressful all round for the last few years due to divorce and lauren leaving.. I feel a bit of a sad case at the minute because i would rather be at work than at home... at least i forget my lonliness then..

Morning Annlouise
I too have suffered with hairloss over the last few years and i am suprised i have any left but know i have a thin patch, i have also suffered with low iron levels so tend to put it down to that so it might be worth you getting your iron level's checked. And like Jacqui mentioned i have read it can happen at a "certain" time of life. He ho the joys of being a woman.

Hi Annlouise I work with a lady who is nearly 20 years older than you and she has recently had the same problem. At first she thought it was an age thing but then she attended a specialist who said it was stress related. Following tests she was told it was the immune system attacking itself - as with Jacqui's daughter. Not sure what the cure is but if I can find out more I will let you know.
Best wishes Elly

I also have thinning hair. Apparently a number of reasons:
1. Menopause 2. auto immune disease - already have diabetes & vilitigo 3. Thyroid 4. stress 5. Hereditary
Am certain at least 4 out of the 5 have played a part especially the last one as both my mother and maternal grandmother had the same problem.

Hi Annlouise,
I have had exactly the same problem for the last six months. I am 52 and have been going through the menopause for the last 4 years ......... I assumed that the hair loss was just another symptom to add to the misery!
I did mention it to the doctor but she didn't seem concerned, so I live in hope that the situation improves before I go bald!!

I've had a stressful summer, and I found my hair was falling out in "comb-fulls". My hairdresser recommended Vitamin C and Zinc tablets. Haven't been taking them long enough to know if it's making a diference, but it's worth a try as I tend to take Vitamin C in the winter anyway.

I could write a book on this subject:
I briefly went on HRT at the age of 44 only to find that I became anaemic and managed to lose all my body hair and the hair on my head became very thin. I am 58 now and have never recovered from this. Over the years I have spent hundreds, maybe thousands, of pounds on pills (Nourkrin), capsules and lotions. I sort of gave up but recently I feel my hair is even thinner. I went to a clinic and was told that hair loss in women is very rarely caused by just one thing. In my case it is probably hormonal and stress. A blood test can show my hormone levels and then I can have a tailor-made pill to remedy the deficiency. My problem with this is that I do not take any pills and wake up every morning feeling well. If I start taking hormones I worry that I may be interfering with my system over time. There are also lotions which can be introduced to the scalp by first rolling a prickly device over the scalp in order to facilitate absorption of the lotion. If it is that good why don't we all know about it?
My latest weeze is massage. I read about a hairdresser who massaged the head of her actress client every day because the actress was wearing hairpieces during the making of a film and needed to have her scalp massaged afterwards. The hairdresser said that the actress's hair started to grow really quickly. It made me think that head massage is not only pleasant but could also be beneficial.

Annlouise, I remember that when I was anaemic I was able to run my fingers through my hair and lots of it came out very easily. That stopped once I took some iron tablets, prescribed by the doctor.

Dear Annlouise
I've had the same problem for a few months now. Have asked a friend and she has the same problem too. I have very thick hair so have plenty left and in the past week it has finally stopped. I can only think it is the hormones changing yet again. In fact the last time this happened was after giving birth which was soooo long ago. Hope this helps

My hair only looked good when I was pregnant, which is so often the case. So with me it must be hormones.
It really can dent your confidence, and the state of my hair can make or break my day, which is really sad!
