tell me I'm not cracking up, please
      #498371 - 01/11/2009 17:21

Quite recently, I THOUGHT I saw, on a display in a large branch of Boots', a face-cream which my mother used to use in the 1950s.

All I can remember about the product (then, and now) is that the name began with the letter E.

Do any of you, old enough to have mothers who were slapping face cream on in the 1950s, know what on earth I'm talking about? Or am I having yet another Senior Moment?

Hi Toffiekit. My mums face cream in those days was Nivea. I know it doesn't begin with E but thought if everyone told you what their mums used it might help!!

you're right ace13cat - that's what I'm hoping for.

Or else, definite evidence that I'm cracking up. Either will do.

Oil of Ulay was all the rage when I was young, in the 50's I was a baby so sorry can't help much.

Hi Toffeekit

My mother used Anne French I think, a sort of pointy-topped bottle in blue and white.

I'd love to buy it and try it - it was a real blast from the past when I saw (I did! I taw a pussy tat - oh no, I mean a jar of Endocil) it on the shelf in Boots. But all the websites which claim to sell it also say it's currently out of stock.

I will persist and if I have success, I'll report back on effects/performance.
