      #496692 - 30/10/2009 08:32

I am going on 13 th. November to Fitfarm in the Peak district for a week of diet and exercise. Has any one been on this type of holiday before and if so what was it like ? They also have a place in the south of England. Anyone been there ? Any tips/ advice welcome.Wish me luck !

Not been to one of these but i am sure you will come back with a spring in your step, all that fresh air and exercise.

Wishing you lots of luck, let us know how you get on.

Hi cakelover
Do let us know how you get on. I've read about these places and found there are quite a few around the country but some sounded a bit too much like enforced PE classes for me! I'd be interested to hear what you do/eat etc. Good luck anyway and I think you're really brave to go and do it.

If what you mean by a Fit Farm is one of those BootCamp type holidays I would love to hear about it. I would really like to go on one. Best of luck and hope you enjoy it!

Haven't been to this one, but went to one in Dorset last September. Some are very draconian - sleeping in dorms, up at 5am. This one was fantastic, lovely scenery, comfortable rooms and delicious food. I did work hard but surely that's the point, came back feeling fantastic, hope you do too.

I found out that they start the day with a 2 mile walk at 6 a.m. and almost died of shock ! but I decided that I would go for it although I cannot run, but will do it walking. I have set the alarm for 6 a.m. and walked for the past 3 mornings wrapped up in waterproofs.I live near the sea front in Ayr so have walked along the shore. I was reading on the forum about those pedometers so I might send off for one. When I filled in the form for Fitfarm I put my weight as 4 lbs. less than it actually was but have managed to get that off now ! Yeh ! I felt sooo tired for a few days but slept like a log by last night and feel full of energy today. I go on Friday and I will let you know how I get on. The place looks lovely and it is all women so should be fun.

I was due to go to Fit Farm today but got an e-mail yesterday from them saying that they had a fire at their property in the peak district and were transfering it to their Exmoor venue. It would take me 9to 10 hours to get there from my place in Scotland. I could fly to Dubai in 7 hours! So I have had to cancel. I will rebook next year, but am so disappointed. The consolation is that in my attempts to get fit for going there I have managed to loose 5 lbs.-Can't be bad eh ?

Oh what a disappointment Cakelover. I love the sound of this type of 'break' although realise that it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea.

Congratulations of your weight loss though.....keep it up!

Hi Cakelover,
Sorry to hear that your break was cancelled but well done with the new regime and the weight loss. maybe try again when the weather is better especially for walking at six in the morning!
