Wispa,

I did notice them the last time I was in there, I could do with a new one, have you actually used it yet?

Last night. It was excellent.

Friend at work has bought one too (it was her recommendation) and loves it. She bought it to replace her 15 year old one

Guess what my son and daughter-in-law are getting for Xmas??? It fits in with our agreed family price limit too!

Wispa

Hope you aint going to become another "Larry" here. The cooker does sound good though.

Perhaps we should send him one..........keep him quiet for a while.

Never had one before, any tips for using it as it does not come with a recipe book.

Damn, another idea for Xmas bites the dust !!!

Was going to get D and other half one and as I was cleaning mine out I asked her if they had one. No says she and we don't want one for Xmas, people always ask that around Xmas says she.

However, they both thought my casserole was fab and her OH wants to go and buy one, they both work so would be ideal for them, now I can't get it...........

Hi Von49
First thing to know is it cooks tough old bits of meat into melt in your mouth tenderness but struggles with root veg unless cut up fairly thin. Ensure veg in liquid and consider sauteing first. Any liquid should be hot when adding as it would take a long time to reach a cooking temperature if added cold.
Late home meals can be chicken breasts or quarters with a jar of chicken tonight etc. Put timer on for 6-8 hours before you want it. Stuff Jacket pots in oven on timer. Easy peasy. Most recipes say brown the meat in a frying pan as better flavour & appearance.
Best beef ever, buy some brisket (say 1.5-3lb) fry in a little oil or butter (1oz) with seasoning to brown, put beef in slow cooker then add a sliced carrots & onion to oil and fry until onions transparent, add 1/2 pint stock & bay leaf and bring to the boil. Transfer to slow cooker around meat. Cook for 6-8 hours on high. Remove meat and strain stock & veg into saucepan add thickening to make tasty gravy. It doesn't carve very well but is simply delicious.
Briony

Best
