My OH and I have just returned from a trip to Key West and would recommend it to anyone as a really fun place to stay. We went via an express boat from Fort Myers on the Golf coast which is about 3 hrs drive from Orlando. If anyone going to stay in Orlando and thinking of doing a 2 centre holiday on the golf coast I would def try to do this trip. We stayed only one night but I could have stayed for a week as the place was so beautiful and lively. All the bars have live music every night of an exceptional quality and you can actually walk to them from your hotel, which is unusual in the US. We stayed in a really beautiful hotel right in the heart of the town which was like a Gone With the Wind type place.

we loved it too but its not a place for young children

Agree it is a real party town and wasted on kids. However despite this we did see families there and there is a lovely beach there.
