Can anyone help, over the past few days I have had a lot of problems with my moisturiser. The ones I have been using for the last few months have now turned against me. I either get a burning sensation like I have been burnt or itching. I am feeling rather miserable at moment as my face doesn't feel like mine. Can anyone help.

It sounds like the manufacturer may have made a subtle change to the composition of your moisturiser. It certainly sounds as though you are allergic. I have extremely sensitive skin and in particular, I am allergic to lanolin. As a result I use the Boots range of unperfumed creams and lotions. They are in the Essentials range and have blue lids. They have the added advantage that they are also cheap! I have recently found that I can also use their Protect and Perfect range without any problems , apart from the pain in my purse! I hope that this helps you.

Hi I have always had a difficult time finding skin care products that didn't make my skin flare up. Often it would be very tight and inflamed. I now use Temple spa products and my skin has never been so good. It is not that cheap but for me worth every penny. I use the products for dry skin. Here is the web link, hope it works! www.templespa.com

Have you ever been into one of the "Lush" shops - the ones that smell so strong in all the shopping malls? They do a moisturiser called "Celestial". It's got no additives or preservatives and has been absolutely brilliant for my incredibly sensitive skin. I went in there as a last resort as all the moisturisers on the High St. made me sore - even the so-called sensitive ones. The nice thing about Lush is that they will give you a little free sample to try at home so you don't have to buy the full size product. I've recommended Celestial to lots of friends and everyone has said how brilliant it is. If there isn't a Lush shop near you, you can buy it on line.

I love Clarins Hydraquench I use the rich version for dry/very dry skin. It is expensive £30 a pot but it has got rid of all my dry sore and red patches and it is a big pot so if i use it day and night it lasts around 3 months. I think that is not too bad and works out at around£10 a month or around 33p a day. Just trying to justify it(there you go less than a price of a daily newspaper!!) Seriously though it is excellent and yes I did use a calculator to work out the daily amount!!!! Tanya

Have you tried neutrogena? It was suggested by my dermatologist and seems really good for my skin. I also love their make up but it is only available in the US. Fiomar

I agree with rosacarol about giving Lush a go, ask for a trial pot of celestial - it is really good !! I also use Boots protect and perfect range (in the vain hope it will make me look younger !!) Also, be careful what you are washing your face with as that also might be irritating it now that its feeling very sensitive - get some advice from Lush as to using cleanser for v sensitive skin (they look weird but do work well - I've even converted my husband who has psoriasis !!) Good Luck and I hope it calms down soon.

I'm just wondering what washing powder / fab conditioner you use? Do you think when you dry your face on a towel, it is may be irritated by the washing products? Manufacturers are always reformulating their products to 'improve' them.

Hi hds..I'm interested in this re my post 'Simple' moisturisers..so many of the socalled pure or gentle or hypoallergenic...are absolutely NOT what they say...and usually contain the most awful sounding (and usually unpronounceable) chemicals...my rash is now into it's 6th day..it was been horrendous..burning,and blistered I have to use burns dressings and can hardly move...all for using a 'gentle' moisturiser.
To be honest...I think you can;t go wrong with good old E45 either the lotion as a moisturiser, and the cream as a night cream....I shall certainly stick to that in future.

I'm using Olay (sevens signs of aging) for sensitive skin. I can't use any other and sometimes I struggle to get the Olay unperfumed. My skin is so dry I cannot go without a moisturiser. I might get a wee sample from Lush - that sounds interesting.
BTW when my daughter was small she called it Oil of Ugly (when it was known as Ulay)

Try using a little olive oil, let it seep into the skin for 20 minutes, wipe away residue, then pop on make up. At night be a little more generous with the oil. It's all natural, and should not hurt your skin, unless you have an allergy to olive oil!
All these natural oils, all contain many many vitamins.
Make up a 30ml bottle of night oil using: 10ml Rosehip oil, 15ml Wheatgerm oil, 5ml of grapeseed oil. Apply as often as required. This oil is super super rich in Vitamin E and C, plus contains many other properties. The Vitamin E and C in this blend is way higher than the Boots protect range. Remember that range that sold out and is now over priced!
